Collected my Pure White 5 door R a few weeks ago, really enjoying the car after trading in an R32. One thing I have noticed which seems odd is that there is a whirring noise which sounds like a small fan comes on everytime I stop the engine after a drive, this happens when the key is taken out of the ignition. Is this normal :undecided:  before I take it into the dealer?

Enjoying the forum!

Are you sure it's not the same as the tfsi engine and it's an auxiliary pump that pumps the coolant backwards for 3 minutes after switching off to aid cooling the turbo

Mine sounds like a life support machine when i turn it off.  Been like it since day 1 - will be concerned if it doesn't make any noises! Dave

Normal. Turbo cooling fan runs for a time after engine switched off.

Yep, as above, entirely normal and nothing to worry about.  Noise can go on for a while too.

I've noticed it doesn't do it if I start the car and reverse out of the garage and switch off, obviously turbo doesn't come into play in that scenario :cheesy:

I've noticed a noise while driving when the turbo is engaged, even at lowish revs it sounds like a rubbing break disk noise but it's defo something to do with turbo/engine. I primary have the resonator in Eco so can hear the mechanics more. Anyone else hearing this type of noise? Thanks
