Fault code C0700 I have a 2006 R53 manual transmission, and a Bentley manual (for 2007 - 2011), and a Haynes manual for my 2006 model. I have several codes right now that I can't clear with the Schwaben that I got from ECS Tuning. I'm getting the following codes that I cannot clear: C0700 C0304 P0300 (multiple cylinder misfire) And Service Engine Soon light Does anyone know what they may be? My manuals are not offering up anything on the 'C' codes and google searches are wild - anywhere from cat converter to fuel rail, 02 sensors and MAF sensor. Some background: I had a rough idle and while diagnosing it with the engine running, I found the coil pack was not firing cylinders 2 & 3. Installed a new coil pack, same issue, then traced the coil supply side and found wire damage, which I repaired and it runs absolutely fine....other than the SES light and the codes listed. I did let it idle for quite a long time, like 15 minutes or so, while I was yanking ignition wires looking for arcs and sparks...is it plausible that the fuel that went into cylinders 2 & 3 without being burnt off has lodged in the cat converter and causing the SES light? That's speculation of course, and would love to know the code definitions. Can anyone point me to an online code list? The manuals I have are pretty good with their listings, but obviously are lacking a tad. Thanks folks Mike Reply Like MINI_42 View Public Profile Send a private message to MINI_42 Find all posts by MINI_42 View iTrader Profile #

In the case of Mini, the Mass Air Flow Sensor is actually a MAP Sensor. It is possible this needs to be replaced as well as checking for any vacuum leaks and air filter. The other is possible head gasket failure which would allow more air or oil in the engine and thus misfire. I don't know why these codes are not releasing if you stated you fixed the issue. Perhaps another type of code scanner would do the trick but I don't know of any. As for a code list, there is an extensive list here https://new.minimania.com/Mini_Cooper_Gen_II_OBDII_Powertrain_Codes It doesn't list the codes that start with C but it does give most of the P codes. I checked tonight for disturbed vacuum lines, couldn't find anything. Started it up to run the Schwaben on it again and the SES light is now out. Maybe it is one of those times where if it doesn't detect the same fault condition after driving, the light goes out? I don't know where I read that before but wish I could remember. So now the C0700 is stored as a pending code. Maybe it's on the way out of the ECU? The other two are still existing DTCs. And the carpets are wet from the rain. Now I'll be looking for where the water comes in. Maybe the C codes, are Chassis, water ingress? Thanks for the link to the mini mania site, that's a good reference. Kazukins Neutral Joined: Oct 2020 Posts: 7 Likes: 3 So glad to know that the problem fixed itself. Yes, I do believe codes are still stored in the ECU and have an occasional habit of popping up again if at the slightest change. It takes a couple if not several runs before the ECU decides to ignore them. As for the wet carpets, if it is not related to a drivers/ passenger side window not sealing properly then you may be looking at the drain plug under the ABS motor section as well as the lower windshield trim. The plastic clips holding the trim are prone to becoming brittle and breaking so that is leaves a gap in between the trim and bonnet. There is a channel that the trim sits in and if it is not sealed, it will allow water to just flow into and around the firewall. Thus, wet carpets.I know this from experience as I have yet to replace the trim on mine. It is currently taped with blue painters tape to keep some water out. I was wondering if it was the windshield trim; I need to get out there and poke around to see if I can figure out a source of water entry. I also have an 09 Clubman and the spare tire chamber was filling up with water...I just fixed that yesterday. The R53 scares me a bit more because it's probably coming in behind the dash somewhere and I don't want to pull the dash apart. Heading to Florida tomorrow, when I get home I'll have a look. I see there are 2 (in my limited search). I have an old Mac with windows XP on it (that I'd forgotten about); I will dig it out and see if I can make it work. I appreciate the additional info.
