Adopted from Vietnam and growing up in Sweden, Denise Sandquist found her biological mother through a viral post in 2016, which inspired her to create Fika to help more people connect and create meaningful connections. Fluent in 6 languages with a background as Military Interpreter & Interrogator in Russian, the Stockholm School of Economics, and having lived in 8 countries, she realized that humans are quite the same: we all need connection, meaningful relationships and love to live fulfilling lives.

One of my motivations was always to make a positive difference in the world.While I didn't end up working as a diplomat, more than in my early 20s at the Swedish Embassy in Moscow, I learned that one of the most effective ways to improve the world is to make people happy.Today, loneliness is increasing and despite being more connected than ever, we're lonelier than ever. Lonely, isolated humans create a sad world.I don't believe that any AI girlfriend, or boyfriend, will ever be able to replace one of the most fundamental needs we have as human-beings: love.
