VGP - Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son held phone talks with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi on April 14 in which the two sides agreed to control and properly handle disagreements in the spirit of respecting mutual legitimate rights and interests.

April 15, 2022 3:23 PM GMT+7During the phone talks, Minister Bui congratulated China on outstanding diplomatic and socio-economic development achievements, expressing his belief that China will successfully organize the 20th Party Congress in 2022
Bui affirmed Viet Nam attaches great importance to developing the Viet Nam-China ties in a stable and sustainable manner.
In reply, Wang asserted that the Party and Government of China attach importance to the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, regarding this as a priority in China's neighbourhood diplomacy.
The pair was pleased to witness the development in the relations between the two Parties and countries.

They agreed to strengthen high-level contacts and meetings to consolidate political trust and promote practical cooperation; facilitate trade and resolve barriers in border trade; recognize each other's vaccine passport in favor of travel and exchanges of respective people.
The two sides frankly discussed maritime issues, agreed to make joint efforts to control and properly handle disagreements in the spirit of respecting each other's legitimate rights and interests, and strictly implementing the Agreement on basic principles guiding the settlement of maritime issues between Viet Nam and China and international law, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and working together with ASEAN to make positive progress for the Code of Conduct in the East Sea (COC).
The two foreign ministers also discussed regional and international issues of common concerns, including the Ukraine issue./.
