Form G-1145

What is UCIS Form G-1145?

Form G-1145 allows you to request that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) send you a notification by email and/or text message once they have received and accepted your application package for processing. That’s why the G-1145 is technically called “e-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance”.

Commonly Asked Questions

When Should You File Form G-1145?

If you are filing a USCIS application package that is sent to a USCIS lockbox—including all family and marriage green card applications—you should consider filing the G-1145. While the G-1145 is not a required form, filing it will ensure that you get notified as early as possible once USCIS has accepted your application for processing. (Otherwise you’ll have to wait an extra week or more to be notified by mail, which USCIS sends out whether or not you file the G-1145.)

When Shouldn’t You File?

The G-1145 is only meant to be filed with applications that USCIS accepts for processing at one of its lockboxes (again, this includes all marriage green card applications).

You should not file a G-1145 with an application that is being sent directly to a USCIS service center or field office. You could cause delays in application processing by including extra forms that are not appropriate for your application package.

Boundless will always help you make sure that only the right forms go in the right package!

How Much Does It Cost?

There is no fee associated with the G-1145. It’s just an “opt-in” formality so that USCIS knows how to contact you via email and/or text message once your application package is received and accepted for processing.

Where Do I File This Form?

The G-1145 should be filed with the rest of your green card application package, and where that goes depends on where you live. USCIS provides a chart with all the different scenarios (and Boundless pre-addresses your green card application package to the right one for you).

Will I Receive Case Updates If I File the G-1145?

No. Form G-1145 results in just one one update from USCIS: the initial message that your application package was accepted for processing. After that, to receive any future case updates directly from USCIS via email or text message, you’d need to sign up for a “myUSCIS” account and activate case status alerts. Even if you choose not to sign up for these additional email/text notifications, USCIS will send you the same notifications by mail—it will just take longer. (Either way, Boundless can send you immediate case updates via email and text.)

Starting at $649, Boundless helps you complete your entire marriage-based green card (spousal visa) application — including all required forms and supporting documents, independent attorney review, and support — from the moment your application is filed until you receive your green card.
