What are TPP and FPP?

TPP is short for ‘third-person perspective’ which is the game mode in which you view the game as if you were a person standing behind the character you are playing as.FPP is short for ‘first-person perspective’ which is the game mode in which you view the game as the character you are playing as; basically seeing only what the character sees. These gaming modes are common in the shooting genre. For example, any gaming title in the Counter-Strike series is an example of a classic first-person shooter, while a title such as Gears of War is a third-person shooter.PUBG Mobile allows you to choose between FPP and TPP. While you can switch from TPP to FPP in-game, you cannot switch from FPP during a match.

TPP – pros and cons

Pros: The third-person mode is generally considered to be an easier mode as you have more peripheral vision and can generally play defensive, making the gameplay quite tactical and rotation heavy. What this means is that if you are playing TPP and have a decent position in the circle, it is very difficult for opponents to attack you since you can use the peripheral vision to spot their approach (which you can’t do in FPP).On the other hand, if you are trying to attack a player on the defensive, it is advisable to use utility such as smoke grenades so they can’t spot you closing in. In general, the biggest plus with TPP is that it offers you more information of your surroundings at all times. The TPP game mode generally rewards defensive play.

Cons: The biggest complaint against the TPP mode is that it does not reward skill in the game. Gunfights in TPP usually aren’t interesting because players can spot each other with peripheral vision. The emphasis on defensive play also means that the game is less exciting to play and to spectate. In TPP, common elements that make a shooting game exciting – like flicking, holding angles and using mechanics like pop flashes and peeker’s advantage – aren’t at all viable. Also, before the TPP mode became popular on PUBG Mobile, most of the community got hooked onto the game because of brilliant individual plays and stunning aim with weapons by PC gamers in FPP mode.

Pros: The first-person person perspective offers a more hard-core gaming experience. It relies a lot more on aim and skill to win gamesIt’s also more realistic as it limits the field of view of the player to what can be seen if you were the character itself. The mode is certainly more competitive and can make for a better viewing experience, if implemented correctly.“Switching to FPP mode not only allows players to aim their shots with better precision but also it improves other skills in players like awareness of sounds and character indicators. As the line of sight is increased, it gives a better vision of the game to players to judge the situation,” explains pro gamer Arkam ‘Sonic’ Rashid of UMumba.

Cons: Since FPP can be a little more difficult for new players, the majority of the PUBG Mobile player base began by playing TPP and most stuck to it. As a result, FPP isn’t as popular and queue times can often be significantly longer in matchmaking. Longer queue times in matchmaking also results in more people dropping FPP for TPP just so they can get a game faster, leading to fewer and fewer people playing it.Another reason FPP isn’t as widely played is because of the popularity of skins. PUBG Mobile has a lot of skins that can be purchased to customize your character and equipment, which is best enjoyed in TPP since you can see more.

Conclusion

Between the two, FPP is definitely the more competitive mode which is more spectator-friendly since it creates amazing highlight moments in aiming and gameplay. On the other hand, TPP is the more popular one because it can be enjoyed by casual gamers. Additionally, a lot of competitive gamers have adopted TPP since it allows for more defensive and tactical play.ShareesportsGaming
