White84gti W I've been eyeing this kitfrom ebay for a few weeks. by chance, sitting here bored, I looked it up and they are 20% off 😆. Anyone have good experiences with these kits? This is the only kit I've found for the GTI f.d. (0438100116). My fuel system is starting to really show it's age, time to dig in Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk #1 · Jan 30, 2017 I've been eyeing this kitfrom ebay for a few weeks. by chance, sitting here bored, I looked it up and they are 20% off 😆. It is critical that the flow numbers are the same so there is a good idle speed as well as proper mixture at full load. Solve that issue and have at it. #4 · Jan 31, 2017 I remember stumbling across a few threads about the whole process a few years back, I have lots of reading to do. I'll try to save as many of my finds as I can, and post them. My "Nibbles" thread needs an update anyways #5 · Jan 31, 2017 its been done http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1123823-Fuel-Distributor-Rebuild-How-To the hardest part is sealing the plate between the 2 halves. #6 · Jan 31, 2017 I've attempted it. I tried a few times and was not able to put the two halves back together without slicing into the o-rings that seal the slits in the control plunger barrel. They are referred to as the o-rings for the cylinder housing nozzles in the rebuild PDF. I'm sure it can be done, but I wasn't able to do it. #7 · Feb 1, 2017 I did this about a decade ago. Went to Pep Boys with the old o-rings and started opening boxes at the parts counter, until I found what I needed. This was when they were still a decent parts store. Like the thread mentioned, Indian Head Shellac, to seal. Permatex tech told me motoseal would likely also work. For flow volume, I just pulled the caps and tightened each valve and counted turns until they bottomed out. Did the reverse for the assembly. If you want to get fancy, jump the relay, lift the sensor plate and equalize flow. I think the Bentley goes into this. I have a NOS euro dizzy that I never got to run. Leaked at the halves upon installation, I yanked it and it's been sitting for years. Just needs to be resealed.
