Fujifilm X-A10 Performance
The performance section is where we look at the image quality performance of the camera. Additional sample photos and product shots are available in the Equipment Database, where you can add your own review, photos and product ratings.
Speed - We took a number of shots to test the camera's responsiveness, from switch on to first photo, shot to shot, focusing speed etc. We take a number of shots and then use the average to ensure accurate and consistent tests, making it easy to compare with other cameras.
| X-A3 | X-A10 | |
| Shutter Response | <0.05secs | <0.05secs |
| Wide - Focus / Shutter Response | 0.3secs | 0.35secs |
| Full zoom - Focus / Shutter Response | 0.35secs | 0.35secs |
| Switch on Time to Taking a Photo | 1.3secs | 1.4 |
| Shot to Shot without Flash | 1.0secs | 0.8 |
| Shot to Shot with Flash | 1.4secs | 1.4 |
| Continuous Shooting - JPEG (shots before slow down) | 6fps (slows to 4/5fps) | 6fps (slows to 4/5fps) |
| Continuous Shooting - Flash | N/A | N/A |
| Continuous Shooting - RAW | 6fps (6 shots, then 1fps) | 5fps (20 shots before slowing) |
Focus is reasonably quick, but not as quick as other mirrorless cameras. Continuous shooting is quite quick and can take a good number of shots, even when shooting raw. * High-performance mode on.
Fujifilm X-A10 Sample Photos
Previous NextSample Photos - Colour reproduction is extremely pleasing, with bright punchy images straight from the camera, with particularly saturated blues and greens, and good skin tones. Photos taken with flash show very little red-eye, although on occasion colours were overly warm. Exposure is generally reliable, and exposure compensation can be used to quickly adjust the exposure when needed.
To expand the dynamic range recorded by the camera, you can use the DR (Dynamic Range) settings of AUTO, 100%, 200%, and 400%. When using these you need to be aware of the camera changing the ISO speed, depending on the setting. ISO restrictions are DR100%: No limit, DR200%: uses ISO400 or more, and DR400%: uses ISO800 or more.
Fujifilm X-A10 Lens test images
Previous NextLens Performance - The 16-50mm OIS II lens, is an updated version of the original 16-50mm OIS lens, and offers an improved close focusing distance of 7cm from the front of the lens, 15cm from the sensor, at the wide-angle end of the lens. The lens offers optical image stabilisation (OIS), which will help with low-light, and video recording. Detail from the lens is good whether you are using the lens at the wide-angle or telephoto settings, and focusing was reliable. Purple fringing and chromatic aberration was generally low. The lens is also quite resistant to flare, even when not using the lens hood.
Fujifilm X-A10 ISO test images
Previous NextISO Noise Performance - For the lowest noise and best detail possible we would recommend using ISO100 to ISO6400, as images have low levels of noise and good levels of detail. For lower light situations ISO12800 still provides good results, although noise increases and detail is reduced. At ISO25600 noise levels become strong and we would recommend avoiding this setting if possible, although results may still be useful if resized and used on the web. There is reduced dynamic range when shooting at ISO100.
Fujifilm X-A10 White-balance test images
Previous NextWhite Balance Performance - Auto White Balance (AWB) performs very well, under tungsten lighting, under mixed lighting, and under fluorescent lighting. There is very little need to use the white balance presets, as AWB does an excellent job. For more colour critical work, you can use manual white balance, or alternatively, shoot in raw and adjust the photos afterwards.
Fujifilm X-A10 Digital filters
Previous NextDigital Filters - There are less film simulation modes when compared to the X-A3, although there is a variety of advanced filters. We've shown examples of these above. The camera features an automatic panoramic mode, where you press the shutter release button and pan the camera from one side to the other. Results are reasonable, however, you need to pan as smoothly as possible to avoid blurred images, and the image isn't particularly high-res.
Video - The X-A10 records FullHD video at 30fps, with stereo sound. Detail is good, with video featuring the same excellent colour reproduction as photos, and film simulation is available as well. Electronic image stabilisation function delivers the five-axis image stabilisation that combines optical and electronic stabilisation. Video has a data rate of 36/38mbps.
