In this review, we will be comparing the X-S10 and the X-T30, two Entry-Level Mirrorless cameras by Fujifilm. Fujifilm X-S10 was introduced to the market in October 2020 and Fujifilm X-T30 was launched in February 2019. There is 20 months difference between X-S10 and X-T30 so we don't expect to see a huge technology difference between these two cameras but it would still give an advantage to younger X-S10, especially in sensor tech.

We can expect this to be a close match up because both models are ranked amongst the best in Entry-Level Mirrorless cameras. Out of 127 cameras in this class, Fujifilm X-S10 is ranked #1 with an overall score of 73 and Fujifilm X-T30 is ranked #10 with an overall score of 65.

Here is a brief look at the main features of the Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T30 before getting into our more detailed comparison.

Size and weight are big decision factors when you are trying to find the ideal camera for your needs. In this section, we are going to illustrate the Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T30 side-by-side from the front, back and top in their relative dimensions. Fujifilm X-S10 has external dimensions of 126 x 85 x 65 mm (4.96 x 3.35 x 2.56″) and weighs 465 g (1.03 lb / 16.40 oz) (including batteries). Fujifilm X-T30 has external dimensions of 118 x 83 x 47 mm (4.65 x 3.27 x 1.85″) and weighs 383 g (0.84 lb / 13.51 oz) (including batteries).

Below you can see the front-view size comparison of the Fujifilm X-S10 and the Fujifilm X-T30. Fujifilm X-T30 is clearly the smaller of the two cameras. Its body is 8mm narrower, 2mm shorter and 18mm thinner than Fujifilm X-S10.

Weight is another important factor, especially when deciding on a camera that you want to carry with you all day. Fujifilm X-T30 is significantly lighter (82g ) than the Fujifilm X-S10 which may become a big advantage especially on long walking trips.

Also keep in mind that body weight is not the only deciding factor when comparing two interchangeable camera bodies, you also have to take into account the lenses that you will be using with these bodies. Since both Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T30 have the same Fujifilm X lens mount and APS-C sized sensors, lenses will not be a differentiator on total size of the system.

X-S10 X-T30 Min Average Max Weather Sealing

Unfortunately neither the Fujifilm X-S10 nor Fujifilm X-T30 provides any type of weather sealing in their bodies, so you have to give extra care especially when you are shooting outdoors. If weather sealing is a must-have feature for you, check these sections: Top Mirrorless Cameras with Weather Sealing

LCD Screen Size and Features

Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T30's LCD screens have the same diagonal size of 3.00 inches.

Both Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T30 have APS-C sized 26.0 MP resolution sensors so sensor size and resolution is not a differentiator between these two cameras.

Another similarity between these two cameras is that both Fujifilm X-T30 and Fujifilm X-S10 sensors lack anti-alias (Low-Pass) filters. Removing anti-alias filter increases the sharpness and level of detail but at the same time, it increases the chance of moiré occurring in certain scenes.

Below you can see the X-S10 and X-T30 sensor size comparison.

Fujifilm X-S10 vs Fujifilm X-T30 Sensor Size Comparison
Sensor Size and Resolution Comparison image of Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T30 Cameras

Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T30 have the same sensor sizes so they will provide same level of control over the depth of field when used with same focal length and aperture.

The number of available lenses is a big deciding factor when choosing your interchangeable lens camera. Fujifilm X-S10 and Fujifilm X-T30 have the same Fujifilm X lens mount and currently there are 141 native lenses available for these cameras.

Another important factor is the availability of image stabilization. Fujifilm X-S10 has a big advantage in this regard because it has a sensor based image stabilization (IS) which means that all the lenses mounted to this body will be stabilized. X-S10's built-in Image stabilization system is effective for compensating vibration up to 6.0-stops according to CIPA standards. On the other hand, Fujifilm X-T30 doesn't have this feature so you have to buy a lens with optical stabilization feature. Currently there are 22 lenses for Fujifilm X mount with Optical Image Stabilization features.
