I get that, and I think that's what I was taught in undergrad bio. This TBR passage (6.13), however, says that nerve cells and skeleton muscle cells remain in G1. Which is it? I think it's still G0, if they directly asked and had G0 as an option EDIT: with that said, I don't know how you can distinguish between the two exactly, since G1's duration varies greatly also, so maybe it would be better to say they are arrested at G0/G1 instead. Click to expand...I'm too lazy to go back and look at the question again, but I think it said something like "Which of the following stays in G1 phase?" The choices were kidney epithelial cells, neurons, and skeletal muscle cells. When I was doing the passage, I interpreted the question to mean "Which of the following does not go into G0 phase." Obviously neurons and skeletal muscle cells don't grow or replicate once they are mature, so I picked epithelial cells only. Based on the answer and answer explanation, however, it's now obvious that the question was asking "Which of the following do not continue from G1 to S phase?" I hope the MCAT isn't as ambiguous about G1/G0... Upvote 0 Downvote

Click to expand...Yea it's kind of unfair, but whatever lol. Usually on those types of questions - the ones with answers like I only, I and II only, II only, I and III only, etc - you can figure out exactly what the question is asking even if it's not very clear. But in this case, there were answers for both interpretations of the question Upvote 0 Downvote Show hidden low quality content You must log in or register to reply here.
