12 May, 2015 @ 7:54am G25 or G27? Hey guys, just thought I'd ask here real quick :)I have an option to pick up a used Logitech G25 for $100-120 AUD. Is it worth the price, or should I wait till a cheaper G27 shows up?Is the difference between them worth the price difference? Also, I'm upgrading from an old Logitech MOMO wheel, so either one will be a massive upgrade :PThanks for any replies! ;) < > Showing 1-15 of 33 comments

12 May, 2015 @ 8:52am disclaimer: I don't know nothing about the AUS market. My advice:noone knows how long these things really last. I own a G25 and I find it hard myself to justify an upgrade. I would probably not sell it for more than a day's worth of labour, knowing how much beating that thing has already taken. The difference G25/G27 is really rather simple: G27 has 4 more buttons on the rim itself, which may or may not come in handy. Downside: a little akward spoke-shape in order to provide room for said buttons. The shift-lights are probably a nice bonus - when they work.my avice: Look at a new DF-GT and whether you want new or used and decide from there. Should you have more money to spend, there are -for sure - better wheels out there! #2

12 May, 2015 @ 10:00am You can make the shift-lights on the G27 work for any game using a third-party app called FanaLEDs. I recommend using that if you fancy to make the lights work in any occassion ;) Last edited by Sand0x; 12 May, 2015 @ 10:01am #3

12 May, 2015 @ 11:07am I run a G27 and my best buddy runs a G25. They are basically the same thing with a few small differences. G27 has a slightly smoother feeling FFB and is quieter, though the G25 you could say has a slightly more direct feeling FFB but is loud and rough sounding. G25 shifter has sequential mode which makes it better in my eyes, some people say the H-shifter on the G27 is very slightly better, really I didn't notice it. Pedals are identical. If you can get a G25 for cheap then buy it right away, IMO the G27 is not worth the extra money.. Infact most of the time the G25's go for more money here, they are more desired for whatever reason. Last edited by Bigbazz; 12 May, 2015 @ 11:10am #6

12 May, 2015 @ 9:19pm Ive had both got a g25 fairly soon after it came out in Aus and it died on me end of last year. I was impressed what a beating that thing took over many years since I think rf1 through the simbin titles netkar and whatever else I threw at it. I did have a few years of not much use in the middle but AC probably got way more hours out of it then it did in all sims before.G27 feels a little better but this is lukely me comparing a tired and battered g25 vs new g27. The extra buttons on the wheel are very handy the shift lights are next to useless. Easy to get to work with fanaleds or some games do it directly they are just so small and low down that your not looking there anyway. The shifter was a little better in the g25 as it allowed for h pattern and sequential. Going used I guess it all depends on condition but the g25 was tough so if it hasnt done thousands of hours there should be lots of life left in it. They will look pretty battered and weatherd by the time they die so if it looks in good condition and has no issues with the encoder or pedals its a good buy still. #8

12 May, 2015 @ 10:06pm Thanks m8, I'm leaning towards the G25 now, because I can't really dish out $200+ at the moment.I heard the G25 shifter was clicky, did this bother you much? Does it interrupt gameplay with *click click click* each time you change gear? #9

13 May, 2015 @ 3:04am not so much, really. That's one of the upsides: they do not come with a noisy fan. There were power-conversions, though that would make any silence-lover cringe (...)The gears inside are pretty noticable, though.edit: and NO I am not from America or any other English speaking country. Good old Germany is my home :D Last edited by Simon said EAT DUST PLAYER_1 !; 13 May, 2015 @ 3:35am #12

13 May, 2015 @ 5:09am Funny thing just happened to my g27 it broke tonight. its only 3 months old and the wheel bolts have all sheared off at the plastic joint must have just been a fault there. The g25 lasted maybe 8 years but Im sure this will be quickly replaced under warranty. So id say the g25 may be the stronger bit of kit but it could just be pure bad luck too. #14

13 May, 2015 @ 6:06am Slightly hijacking the thread a little. I have a DFGT and have had it for several years now. I've never tried a different wheel. How much better is the G25/7 feeling wise and FFB compared to it? Severely tempted to upgrade but only if those G wheels are significantly better than the DFGT. Of course the pedals on the DFGT are a bit on the cheap side. Taking the whole set into consideration. #15 < > Showing 1-15 of 33 comments Per page: 1530 50 Assetto Corsa > General Discussions > Topic Details Date Posted: 12 May, 2015 @ 7:54amPosts: 33

Should you have more money to spend, there are -for sure - better wheels out there! Thanks for the reply! :)$100 AUD is exactly $79.89 USD, (I'm guessing you live in America). Not really interested in a DF-GT because the gear stick is on the wrong side for Australian drivers. As I'm learning to drive at the moment I'd rather put the gear stick on the left than get into a bad habbit of reaching to my right to change gears (and I also want a clutch!)... :PI don't really care about the LED lights for the RPM counter, imo that's not worth the extra money, but I am worried about the clicky shifter on the G25... Either way, anything will be a mind-blowing upgrade from my MOMO wheel :P

Think it's worth it for a G25? #7
