Porridge is well cooked. Frog legs are tender. Other dishes are acceptable in flavour too.

I have always eaten at Ming Fai, from Lane Nine, and I brought it here to eat here today. It was a great dining experience and the frog porridge tasted very good. The price is cheaper than the one in Geylang, but the taste is not inferior!

The service is super bad, when I eating there I heard the old uncle (manager) keep scolding the staff. I think he need to go to management training. Give some respect to your staff, manager! Never come back again!

Pls do not come. We order normal gong bao frog porridge but they add extra hot. Ask them to change yet they asked u to order another set. Do not come. Back attitude

Visited on 23 Dec 2022Being a regular customer and this is my first time writing a review on this shop. The standard of the frog porridge is way better than the one I went at Lorong Geylang and considered more value for money although there a slight adjustment to the price recently. Buy 2 free 1 @ $17Buy 3 free 2 @ $27Buy 4 free 3 @ $37The portion of the frog meat given for each pot is more generous than other shop. Do patronize if you happens to be at Bukit timah area.

Must be stupid of me to eat curry chicken at a frog pooridge joint but anyway totally soupy curry. Nothing special about the frog pooridge except to entice greed. Buy 3 frog 2 free. Picture and actual food different

Expensive frog porridge with hotel priced can drinks! Spent $120 for 4pax for only 2 porridge, 7 frogs and drinks. An indulgence for me once in a blue moon

Great place at the west to have frog porridge! Probably not the best but definitely not the worst! Worth a try if you are near bukit timah area!

There’s a dearth of good frog porridge out west, so the family is happy that NO. 5 is alive and thriving. The claypot frogs are tasty enough (probably top 5 island-wide for us), with the standout dish here their signature fried tofu (a must-try). I only wish that their servings were more consistent - depending on chance, you may end up with little or no sauce, resulting in strict rationing. That and the slightly too starchy porridge result in the 4 star rating.

We have been here many times. Today we visited and order 4+3spicy frogs. Requested for extra spicy. The standard had dropped. We ordered crispy fried chicken skin. This is the most awful chicken skin I never had before. Is not crispy at all. And the skin texture is tough. Feedback to their staff. Their response is "oh is like tat". Not worth $11 for 6pcs of chicken skin.

This frog porridge taste ok, the service also not bad. The only thing I want to highlight is the porridge, they put too much pepper so it really spoil the whole taste. If I would go again I will stop them early.

Visited on 14th December 2022 around 4pm. Ordered 2 frog free 1 for S$17 and was told that item was not applicable for 2 persons. For 2 persons, was told to order 3 frog free 2 even though finally able to order 2 frog free 1. The frog came with extra protein (worm) as shown in the picture. Showed it to the waitress and she was speechless and called a guy whom I supposed is the chef who happened in their groups having their dinner (4.40pm) at next table. The 'chef' touched the worm and tried to reason by saying 'is it a worm'? Silent for few seconds before I asked the bills. The reason I put this in the review is to create awareness for them to improve not serving these extra proteins even though is cooked.

BEWARE OF UPSELLING BY STAFF! As mentioned by many other diners, staff tends to try and upsell to make you buy more food. During our visit, the staff added on to our order from 1 serving of 4 (free 3 frogs) to 2 servings of 4 (free 3 frogs) without our knowledge. FYI, we has 6 diners with 2 diners who don't eat frog. Hence, we only wanted a serving of 4 (free 3 frogs). However, the staff recommended that we order 2 servings of 4 (free 3 frogs) as she mentioned that 1 serving is only sufficient for 3 pax. Despite us saying that there is only 4 diners who consume frogs, she proceeded to add 2 servings into our order. (Totally dont make sense how 1 serving is sufficient for 3 diners, but 2 servings is recommended for 4 diners?) To be fair, food quality and taste is okay. However, highly dont recommend the place due to dishonest staff.

My wife and son's favourite supper place. Their frog porridge may not be the best, but it's definitely the best we can find near our place. The porridge is smooth and thick. The spicy (宫保) claypot frogs are flavourful and tender, definitely better than the non-spicy (姜葱) version. If u don't like it too spicy, u can ask them to make it less spicy. Only thing is that the service here is a bit "coarse".

Worst place ever! Staff were very rude and the dining experience was simply horrific! There were 7 of us and when we proceeded to pay for the bill, they charged us 30cents per wet tissue. We informed them that we did not take the tissues and they got very rude and started shouting at us for stealing from them. My mom informed them nicely that we didn’t take anything but they were persistent that we were stealing from them and they have cctv in the dining areas. The manager told us if we don’t own up, they will call the police. We agreed that calling the police was a right choice. Almost immediately, he shouted to the cashier to not charge us for the tissues. The accusations and rude attitude was too much. Even the food was mediocre! Please heed my words and don’t bother coming here!

Worst dinning experience! Extremely bad service attitude from the resturant supervisor and workers! Not recommended at all. Hope the boss can do something about it. Food so so.

Horrendous service, manager was way too rude. We came in 4 pax, and ordered a sum of dishes. We knew that the small table wasn't enough to fit all the dishes and asked politely if we could combine 2 tables together. At that point of time, it's already midnight and there isn't any customers at the shop. However, manager yelled and said no. He mentioned that we only ordered $60plus worth of dishes and shouldn't need that big space to put all the dishes. Seriously, what does it got to do with the sum of money. Furthermore, manager even shouted that if we are unhappy with the arrangement, we can make payment and get out of the shop. Such lousy services, totally spoilt the entire atmosphere and mood. Strongly urge people to avoid this place.

Worst service ever. The food is decent in taste but the horrible service by the manager in black shirt make this place unbearable. Patronized the place at 1am on a Tuesday. The restaurant was empty and four of us were assigned to a small table. We ordered 1 bowl of porridge, 2 bowls of frog, 1 crispy chicken, 1 plate of tofu, 1 plate of omelette and 4 beverages. When the food came we realized the table is too small for us to eat comfortably and we requested to join an empty table. However the manager insisted we could just squeeze together to have our meal even though the restaurant was empty. And to make the matter worse he told us to leave if we are not happy with the arrangement. What kind of service is this? Is it even acceptable in the service industry? If the man in black is not the boss of the restaurant, I sincerely hope you will look into the matter and have serious talk with the employee involved. The manager doesn't possessed a professional attitude that is expected of a manager.
