Sep 27, 2012 88 0 10,660 Which is better? I'm planning on building a new rig (For the most part), but in the range I'm looking at these seem to be the best in the price range (Up to $70). Also, if you have any alternate suggestions for this rig I mention below, or have found any pieces that don't go with each other, a response would be great :) Here are more details: Intentions: Gaming. Almost nothing else, except some online browsing of course. I also want it to be a highly upgradable, which is why I chose these cpus. They are both LGA1155, which seems like it can be upgraded to much better cpus like the 2500k, or the 3570k. Budget: I have $360-$400 to spend, but I don't want to spend all of it. Possibilities: As far as I know, I can use my current (ATX Mid Tower) case, as well as my hard drive, and CD/DVD drive with this potential rig, so I'm thinking about not getting the case down below at all. Still not sure on that though. Other needed info: I have the peripherals (Case, monitors @ 1920x1080p, controllers, headset, keyboard, mice, etc.) Future Rig planned out: ($65 or $69) CPU: Ivy Bridge's G2020 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116886&Tpk=g2020&IsVirtualParent=1 Sandy Bridge's G860 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116405 ($48)Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130659 ($55) RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820301082 ($60) PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139027&Tpk=cxv2%20500w&IsVirtualParent=1 ($89) Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814187203 ($50) Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811147153 Total: $367-$371 ($317-$321 without case) Solution I'm not quite sure why the G2020 would be cheaper than the G860, but it could just be because the cost to make it may have been a bit less than the G860. Ivy Bridge is a very mature (so its very cheap to make) manufacturing process now and Sand Bridge will be 2 generations old in a month. Also, the G2020 is missing just a couple features when compared with the G860, but nothing really important. Also, the integrated GPU in the G860 is actually more powerful on paper at least. Intel listed the tray price on the G860 to be $75 and the G2020 to be $64. So basically, just get the G2020. Sort by date Sort by votes spawnkiller

Jan 23, 2013 889 0 11,360 the G2020 scores 2869 in passmark and the G860 scores 2866... The G2020 is newer and can use 1333mhz ram while the G860 is limited to 1066... Also the Integrated graphics are a little better on the newer g2020... I would choose the G2020 if they're about the same price... Upvote 0 Downvote trogdor8freebird

I wonder why the G2020 would be cheaper ($64.99 vs $69.99 on Newegg. $59.99 vs $69.00 new on Ebay. Both G2020 is cheaper.) Upvote 0 Downvote fudoka711

The one I chose has much higher wattage and has a PCI-E 6-pin connector (I'm not planning on SLI ever). I'm not doubting you, I just want to know because I'm trying to learn more about parts other than just the video card as well as trying to achieve the goal of getting a much better rig.
