GCK'S FILE SIGNATURES TABLE

I started working on this page in February 2002 after finding a short list of file signatures (aka "magic numbers") in Forensic Computing: A Practitioner's Guide by T. Sammes & B. Jenkinson (Springer, 2000). The site has been listed in Wikipedia's List of file signatures and several digital forensics books and course material documents in the last 20+ years. Although I am still active in a variety of ventures, I officially retired at the end of 2020 and I have veered away from forensics. Even though I kept making additions to the page, I asked the folks at SEARCH early in 2025 if they were interested in taking the page over and I am delighted that they have. Meanwhile, I remain available at [email protected].

The last version of this page posted at my Web site can be found at file_sigs_GCK_latest.html.
