H&K .45 AUTO said: And, although the length of the grip on the G43X is the same as that of the G19, I find that the thinner profile gives me a more secure feel when holding it as compared to the thicker G19. Click to expand...Couldn't agree more. The only issue I find is shooting the 43x my trigger finger seems to slide down to the bottom of the trigger shoe and try to get pinched a little between the shoe and the trigger guard. But I get a much better trigger press and middle of pad engagement on trigger face on the 43x than the 19. 0 Reply #3 · Jun 18, 2021 That's like comparing an F150 to a Semi. Add all that stuff to the G19 and see how they compare. #4 · Jun 18, 2021 How much does the light weigh? #5 · Jun 18, 2021 I believe that light weight 2.4 ounces, and the optic weighs about 1 ounce. If you were to add them to the G19, you would be turning the G19 into a 34.4 ounce package, and the bare G43X would be down to around 24.9 ounces. If both pistols are equipped with the light and red dot, the G43X enjoys a weight advantage of 6.1 ounces while packing the same firepower. That is significant. Show more replies 0 Reply #10 · Jun 19, 2021 What would be a deal killer for me is the S15 mag. While some have had good success with that aftermarket mag, others have not had success. And again, just me, I would never use an aftermarket magazine if the pistol is for SD. I since I do appreciate pistols that have higher capacities, the G19 would get the nod. #11 · Jun 19, 2021 One has to respect your personal opinion. If I may draw a parallel to a current event, there is something that I learned throughout the pandemic. You cannot reduce risk to zero. You can take precautions and do what the "experts" prescribe. But in the end, even the methods that are considered tried and true in almost any industry and circumstance do have a failure rate. And while precautions are generally in order for things that have risk and danger, I have found that "overkill" often leads to unintended consequences. But in terms of risk mitigation nothing replaces testing and training, even with OEM equipment. JMO 0 Reply #12 · Jun 20, 2021 Not trying to be rude. I have both 19's and 43x. Just me, I'd not compare them. Rather different roles. #14 · Jun 20, 2021 I wholeheartedly agree. I have carried 19s and 23s for years, most of the time concealed. While they are a great, all round pistol, the 43x also has its merits. the 43x’s small grip circumference works better with small to medium hands. Even with Glock’s grip reduction efforts, the 19 still feels bigger especially for people with tiny hands. I have a couple of 43xs, a standard and an MOS. I am not big on weapons lights for concealed carry, but I do see the wisdom of an MRD and will eqiop the second 43x that way. The 43x is also slimmer and carries better. That said, there’s nothing wrong with also having a 19 (MOS) in the inventory. They are as rugged and reliable as ever. If going into harm’s way, they’re a great backup to a carbine. I am retired no longer need to carry a double stack pistol, or necessarily worry about concealing the bulk. The 43x is better for me. I still run with the factory mags. Are 10 plus one rounds enough? I hope not to have to find out, but I have complete Glock reliability, and a couple extra mags on me just in case. Show more replies 0 Reply #13 · Jun 20, 2021 Thinking seriously about comparing... This is only me and my carry world. What I would compare my 43x to is S&W MP 340. I admit my own previous argument is valid against this as well. That's truly a fair criticism. I like the 340 in summer as its soooooo light. But 5 rounds sux! And the 43x is larger but still IMHO a great carry package. All that said I'm a G45 G19 G17 G22 G21 guy... but these little guys fill the most important role. That is have a SD gun on you!! #16 · Jun 20, 2021 I came from a background that required pistols that were carried in the job, and all pistols got the same 25 yards & in qualification course (used to be 50 yards). Over the years, I’ve not seen any loss of accuracy from the 43/43x over a larger pistol with a four inch or longer barrel. I was a firearms instructor for a number of years so I was what I considered pretty proficient, but Glocks in her metal, across the spectrum are at least “combat” accurate out to 25-50 yards if the shooter does his/her part. I decided to cross over and get NRA civilian certification, and my brand new 43x was the handgun I took for the training. I surprised myself shooting some really tight groups, even with WWB. I saw one video posted later that compares the 43x to the 48, and the 43x held its own. Bottom line is that a shooter must be proficient with what they carry, or must train to be proficient. The 43x can be a little snappy, but I spent a lot of years shooting 180 grain billets fro G23s and 27s, and personally think the 40s are worse than the micro 9s. #17 · Jun 21, 2021 Which fits and feels better in your hand? #18 · Jun 21, 2021 The single stack I have been eyeballing has the been the 48, but again in comparison the 19 it's same size gun just skinny. #22 · Jun 22, 2021 Could it be that much of the perception might simply come from what you're used to? I never owned a Glock so the 43x/48 felt really nice in my hand with no pre-conceived notions. Sometime after purchasing my 43x a friend loaned me a SIRT which was a G17 size frame. That felt monstrous to me even though I'd shot a 1911 for 30 years. But just today I noticed something about my 1911 that I hadn't realized. Back in the day Weaver was in and thumbs forward hadn't become a thing yet. Instead of thumbs forward as I do today with my 43x, my grip was support thumb over grip thumb + Weaver. Interestingly, while I'm perfectly comfortable thumbs forward with my 43x, I find that I have better control of my 1911 with my old grip, left thumb over right rather than thumbs forward though Weaver has been replaced with modified Chapman. It took some time and training to get used to holding and controlling the 43x though it always felt comfortable just holding in my hand. But now after training extensively with it, it just feels natural and the 1911 feels a bit strange now. I guess what I'm saying is that you get used to what you get used to. 0 Reply #19 · Jun 21, 2021 Nice, I like that especially since I've not seen one with the TRL7 on it. I like the 43X a lot, I've had a few but honestly I find it easier to carry the G26, without question. That said, I may try a G43XMOS one day. #20 · Jun 21, 2021 The 43x with the shield mags makes the 19 feel like a brick. I never shoot my 19 or 45 any more. #21 · Jun 22, 2021 43X is a good gun, no doubt, and if you spend a lot of time with it, a 19 will feel huge. BUT, if I can only have one I'm taking the 19, no question. Different strokes. I think people are really only comparing these because of the SA mags otherwise imo they're not that comparable. #23 · Mar 22, 2023 I own the 43x and just purchased a Glock 19 as well. The Glock 43x is very snappy, poor recoil etc when shooting. This is not a huge deal but I assume the 19 will handle better and be more accurate with less recoil than 43x. In every scenario you’re going to want the lightest most comfortable conceal carry along side the most accurate and highest possible bullet capacity. I know you can get the 43x with 15 round mag but that pistol was only ever made for 10 rounds. Surely it’ll carry with a weird offset with the handle being much heavier and not proportional to the slide. I still plan to carry both at different times but I think they are both good in their own ways. Surely the 19 will shoot better being longer and more wide while still having same size handle as 43x. But yeah 43x subcompact and 19 is compact. The comparison to which is more light and compact would obviously be the subcompact 😂 but that’s not to say the 43x is a better pistol than the 19. Remember in a self defense scenario accuracy is more important than it being comfortable. If you can send more lead down range while staying on target better with the 19 it might be better than the slightly lighter 43x. Either way I love Glock and that’s why I went ahead and got another! #24 · Mar 23, 2023 More and more, I see the 43X as a true EDC gun and guns like the 19 and 17 as duty and home defense guns. At realistic self defense distances, I can shoot the 43X as well as anything. It is accurate and cycles fast. Sure under certain conditions and situations, you might want to carry something larger, but how often will you need something that a 43X can't do? Insert Quotes Post Reply
