GregAbell G Alright, it appears that in order to get to the rear brakes, you have to pull the axles and then you need to use the J-2222-C tool to get the wheel bearing nut off. Where do I get this tool? Is there a cross-reference to Snap-On or Kent-Moore part numbers? What's this going to cost me? I can't be the 1st person on here who's run into this #1 · Aug 24, 2006 Alright, it appears that in order to get to the rear brakes, you have to pull the axles and then you need to use the J-2222-C tool to get the wheel bearing nut off. #3 · Aug 24, 2006 I checked Auto-Zone - nope, don't have it I think I may have located the Snap-On & Matco part numbers. Since my truck is the 2500HD model (8 lug wheels), it's going to be the larger axle, correct? Snap-On ANS1929 for the 5200#-7200# & ANS1930 for the 11K#-13.5K# Matco AN1929 for the 2 5/8" diameter & AN1930 of the 2 7/8" diameter I'm not at home to put a caliper on it now, but I'm guessing it's the 1930 number wrench that I need. Can anybody verify that the J-2222-C cross-references to the *1930? #4 · Aug 24, 2006 Big channel locks. It ain't that tight and if it is...you've roasted the bearings. #5 · Aug 24, 2006 All I see is the 6 or so holes (or dimples) that this tool is suppossed to fit into. #6 · Aug 24, 2006 Ahhh...you have that one. In that case you need the ABC.XYZ.123 tool assembly (also known as a straight screwdriver put into one of the holes and a hammer to whack it). #7 · Aug 25, 2006 I have a GM corprate 14 bolt rear axle nut socket. Well I had it made by a machinist buddy of mine. The OD diameter is 2 5/8" , So I would say the snap on ANS1929A socket is your correct choice. #8 · Aug 25, 2006 Hammer and punch. #9 · Aug 25, 2006 I usually just use a screwdriver. I just had a 2002 Van in that I dought was ever apart and just used a phillips screwdriver in one of the little holes and spun it right off. Just remove the outer spring lock I guess you would call it, remove the square key from the keyway, and spin the nut off. #10 · Aug 26, 2006 I'm with hrjack and r85sub...unless you make a living out of pulling those rearends apart...the tool just isn't worth the once, twice, MAYBE thrice, that you'll actually have to pull it apart.
