I changed the thermostat for a brand new VW one and still the same problem. I think the problem comes from the fact that it is a diesel, they run MUCH cooler than petrol so whilst you are running along the revs are up a bit therefore generating some heat, when idling the engine is generating virtually 0 heat and therefore, I presume, even with the thermostat shut completely the temp drops below 90. Dont forget the weather at the moment is stupidly cold for us. #3 · Feb 21, 2022 Good day Sir/Madam I own a golf 5 1.6 FSI. Every-time when i start my car it gives me the overheating Sign/symbol on the dashboard. i try to flush it cooling system and check all the Coolant pipes, thermostat and i even went to an extent of changing the Whole car radiator but the overheating sign keeps on coming back. Please help me what could be the problem.? #4 · Feb 21, 2022 Did you check the temperature sensor and water pump? 1 Reply Status Not open for further replies.
