The Google I/O 2022 first day concluded with a gamut of developments ranging from the teaser of the high-end Pixel 7 to a slew of upgrades on Google’s existing software and platforms. The tech giant also gave a glimpse of its roadmap for future developments. This year the highly anticipated event saw the launch of Google Pixel 6a and Pixel Watch dispelling rumours and speculations of a delayed launch. The brand has officially unveiled the devices along with Pixel Tablet and Pixel Buds Pro.Google CEO Sundar Pichai in his keynote address highlighted how the tech giant looks forward to people and their experience with technology to better their offerings. Similarly, all the announcements at the Google I/O 2022 had utility at their core and were developed and designed to address issues concerning people and their daily lives. Here is a look at the key takeaways from the event.Google Maps Gets New UpgradesThe Google CEO while talking about Google Maps said that their application was able to reveal more buildings in the African regions now. Countries like India and Indonesia have been able to successfully map buildings due to the application. According to the CEO, 3D mapping technologies have been enhancing the navigation experience in Google Maps. He spoke about ‘Immersive View’ a feature that allows users to check the weather, traffic and inside restaurants using Google Maps. The feature is supported by the Google Cloud stream. Privacy And Security Google announced its plans to create a password-free technology for the people. The tech giant plans to auto-enroll users in two-factor authentication which will reduce the risks of phishing. The two-factor authentication comes days after the announcement by the FIDO alliance which includes Apple, Google and Microsoft collaborating towards password-free access to websites and applications.Look And TalkWith this latest update, users need not say ‘Hey Google’ every time they interact with Google Assistant. When the new feature Look and Talk is turned on users can look at the Nest Hub Max’s display and ask questions without the usual ‘Hey Google’ prompt. Experts believe the feature could come in handy as it will save time as the users are already looking at the screen. Real Tone FiltersGoogle has announced its plans to expand ‘Real Tone’ with a new set of filters for skin tones. New Feature For Google Docs And Google Meet A new automated summarisation feature will allow Google Docs to summarise entire documents automatically. Google Meet, one of the most useful tools for virtual interactions, has also got improved audio and video abilities. The enhancements on Google Meet are backed by Project Starline, Google’s high-fidelity telepresence system.Android 13 And A Host of EnhancementsGoogle’s primary operating system’s latest version Android 13 was one of the highlights of the event. The new OS emphasizes security and privacy with a much greater focus on customization. The OS is also optimized to work with devices with large screens and foldable devices. The tech giant has also revealed that it will be updating nearly 20 applications including g YouTube Music, Maps and Messages to align with the large-screen and foldable units. Google Pixel 6A After months of speculation, Google has finally unveiled its latest smartphone, the Google Pixel 6A. The device which flaunts a duo-tone design sports a 6.1-inch. Screen the smartphone comes with 12.2MP primary camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera The smartphone is powered by the Tensor 5G chip. Pixel 6A stands out with enhanced photography offerings. Besides, the smartphone also has Live Translate and Titan M2 security chip. The smartphone is priced at USD 499 (about Rs 35,000) in the US. It will be available from July 21 in three colours.
