Mar 24, 2013 152 0 18,680 I am looking to buy a used gpu and these are the ones I found. Please give advice as to which I should buy in terms of best value. I do want to be able to play at decent fps with good settings at 1080P. My current setup is below Ryzen 5 2600 16gb ram 1tb ssd 1000w Rosewill psu Option 1: gtx 780 (evga) - $45 Option 2: gtx 970 (evga) - $65 Option 3: gtx 1060 (evga) - $90 Option 4: rx 570 (sapphire) - $80 Option 5: rx 580 (sapphire) - $100 Option 6: rx 590 (xfx) - $140 I am trying to save money thus if something is too powerful for 1080p, I don't want to waste money. That gtx 780 ($45) or gtx 970 ($65) looks decent to me. Advice guys? Could someone also rank these gpus in term if performance for me? Also list like how much faster or slower the cards are compared to each other. Thank you! Solution

Then skip the 1060, definitely. If the 570 and the 580 are both 4GB, then I'd actually consider the GTX 970 or the RX 570. Both similar performance and similar power draw. The 970 is less expensive, but older. If the 580 is 8GB, I'd go with that. The 590 is too much extra money for the about 9% extra performance over the 580, and sucks down more power. I would not get it at $40 more than the price of the 580. Keep in mind if you go for the 570 that, if you're buying in the US, a new one with full warranty can be had for $120 currently. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/tF648d/xfx-radeon-rx-570-4gb-rs-xxx-video-card-rx-570p427d6 There have (occasionally) been promos for an RX 570 4GB going for... Jan 5, 2015 5,908 2,145 41,740 The RX 590 is the fastest. The 580 is maybe 10-15% slower than the 590, so is a decent value. 570 is about 10-15% slower than the 580. The 970 and the 1060 are both going to be somewhere in the neighborhood of the 570/580. But the 780, I would let go of. In my opinion, it seems like as they get older, AMD has better drivers for their cards and they seem to perform better as the cards get older for longer. If you have the power supply and can keep the card cool, the 590 is your best card. It's probably the neighborhood of the gtx 1660. So will probably last longest. Upvote 0 Downvote jetmanz

Jan 16, 2020 2 1 15 GTX 1060 (is it 6gb?) is the best choice. It's cold, you can also OC it a little bit. RX 580/590 consume much more power than 1060... Upvote 0 Downvote A

Mar 24, 2013 152 0 18,680 I heard that the 780 is about the same performance compared to the 970 and the rx 570. Even at $45, it's not a good choice? Upvote 0 Downvote dorsai

Nov 23, 2013 1,923 436 21,790 The 580 or 590 will serve you well at 1080p....the 590 is the fastest gpu you listed. The 1080p chart on this review will show you roughly where many low to mid range gpus stack up against each other. https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/asus-radeon-rx-580-strix-review,22.html Last edited: Jan 16, 2020 Upvote 0 Downvote O

Jan 5, 2015 5,908 2,145 41,740 This may help also. https://www.pcmag.com/comparisons/n...s-amd-radeon-rx-590-which-mainstream-graphics That's the RX 590 vs the 1660. I think of what is listed, if the op has a good power supply, the 590 will be the best of the options listed for the longest period. Upvote 0 Downvote A

Mar 24, 2013 152 0 18,680 I understand the rx 590 is the fastest card and I do have a 1000w psu to support it. But would it be overkill for 1080p? The 780 at $45 and 970 at $65 are not good for 1080p gaming? Upvote 0 Downvote O

Jan 5, 2015 5,908 2,145 41,740 They will be ok. But they are older gens and on the way out. Put it this way, I have an RX 580 and would like to look at upgrading in the next year or so. Upvote 0 Downvote K

How much VRAM does the one you're looking at have? The 3GB version also is cut down in its GPU portion compared to the 6GB version. If it's 3GB, do NOT get it. RX 570 = 4GB or 8GB of VRAM. How much VRAM does the one you're looking at have? RX 580 = 4GB or 8GB of VRAM. How much VRAM does the one you're looking at have? RX 590 = 8GB of VRAM but something of a power hog, given its 225W TDP. Upvote 0 Downvote A

Jan 5, 2015 5,908 2,145 41,740 Good suggestions. I have an rx 580 and it's fine. I can see myself this year or early next year upgrading from it. I've gotten to use an rx 590 and it's a better card, but just a little. The 570 is not much slower than the 580. If you are on a tight budget and are in the USA, then look for the RX 470 and 480. The 570 and 580 cards are refreshes of those cards, and are just a few percentage points faster. But the 470 and 480 would still be decent.
