  Good Product

  The grinder seems to be of good quality. Need to apply grease to the slide rail. I think the directions and and instructions could be more detailed. It really doesn't talk about the size of grinding stone you should use or how to verify if you are using the correct size. It does not tell you when a a stone should be replaced. It would be nice if the power switch was on the motor instead of the power cord.

  precise but poor build

  it is unlikely that you will find a more precise and quick way to sharpen your own chains. the guide is metal and well made. the motor unit, however, is very cheap feeling and after the first use developed rough running sound and feels like the bearing or bushing is dirty or has no lube. the plastic case is the cheapest feeling plastic they could possibly use but by big problem is the motor noise and rough running problem. I am going to open the motor up to see if I can fix the problem. I am lucky to have a lathe so I can make new bushings for it if need be. once they fix this problem, this would be the absolute best chain sharpening option you will have at home.

  Great little sharpener!

  This sharpener is a quality product. Once it is set up correctly, it does its job very well and, also, very fast. I have three chainsaws, 16”, 18”, and 24”. By changing the size of the grindstone, this sharpener does a great job on all three. I have sharpened 12 chains so far (I had several dull chains because my local grinding shop burned), and have had no problems. I did buy additional 3-packs of stones, but have not had to use any. This is an A+ device!

  Great little machine

  I had a collection of old chainsaw chains that I was going to throw away, I used the Granberg sharpener on them and they're just like new. This thing really works great. It's easy to use and does a great job. I recommend you get one if you use a chainsaw at all.

  Works Fast

  I really like it, easy to set up and use, gets chain sharp quick..When milling logs you go through a lot of chains, hitting nails and wire in logs. This is fast , accurate, and cheap when you consider how fast it gets you back to work...

  I've been debating whether to give this product 4 or 5 stars. It works like a 5-star product. I have to admit, I'm not great at sharpening saws. I've been struggling to find something that gives me a factory-chain cut. I've tried different guides, the Oregon Powersharp, and a few others, but this Granberg DC sharpener is the only one that quickly gets you back to factory-chain cut. It looks a little clumsy to setup, but after you do it once, it's actually a breeze. I can sharpen a chain in 10 minutes with this no problem. The only reason why I would give it a 4 over 5 stars is because I wish the metal were heavier gauge. It's not cheap quality or anything like that, but for me to give 5 stars there was to be nothing I wish were improved. You can't go wrong with this sharpener.

  Good, but how good depends on operator.

  Pros- Has excellent design. Hooks to bar, no chain removal. Easy to use. Cons- Zinc castings are OK, not very precise, and rock some throwing of precision, especially changing sides of chain. Must use exactly same motions each time, or grind won't be the same. Must mount right height. Pay attention, watch YouTube. I red marker the undersides of each tooth, then shine light to determine if entire surface is ground. I use mic to determine lenghts of first few teeth are pretty equal (which means tooth heights are same)- This is especially important when changing setup to check grind of opposite teeth.

  Greenberg sharpening tool!!

  If you are a capable person and mechanically inclined, the Gradberg chain saw sharpener is a great tool.... if you are not, bag it, and have your chains professionally sharpened and checked for .025 thousands depth gauge clearance !!! Sharpening is a science!!!!! Truely!!! You, the saw tooth grinder, need to understand the mechanics behind the whole process.... if not, I rest my case!! Have them done by a professional...
