Great Knot | Singapore Bird Group

The 39th Annual Bird Census was conducted from 9-17 March 2024, and involved 36 volunteers who covered 24 sites. In aggregate, 5154 birds of 151 species were counted (compared with 4874 birds of 132 species for the 38th ABC). Migrants made up 42 species and 585 birds, with the remainder 109 species and 4569 birds being residents.

The top 9 species remained the same as the previous year, with the Javan Myna on top. The House Crow and Red Junglefowl both held on to their 5th and 7th position respectively. The top twenty species is shown in the table below.

The site with the most species remained as Kranji Marshes with 58 species, followed by Dairy Farm Nature Park with 55 species, and the Singapore Botanic Gardens with 48 species. The top fifteen sites by species are shown in the table below.

The sites with the most number of birds was Malcolm Park with 382 birds, followed by Bukit Brown Cemetery with 377 birds, and Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve route 1 with 373 birds. The top fifteen sites by number of birds are shown in the table below.
