Anime: Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei addpermalink - The main character in both these series is cold, serious and also skilled in fighting. - Both MCs have a harem, although MKNR is based more around action than romance. - Yuuji and Tatsuya both have a sister, which is better-viewed in their family than they are. - Both anime have a similar feel to it and they have great artwork. report Recommended by TheXchidori Read recommendations by 15 more users There's a handsome main character in each who is ridiculously overpowered in their respective worlds; Both of them have lots of females to choose from that they don't seem too interested in and seem to care loads more about their work. The girls themselves are, however, no push overs either and aren't just damsels in distress. report Recommended by Protaku The characters are very similar in both animes. -The MCs are a mysterious, they are both cold but they seem to be attached to their "friends" and help them in their problem. -They have both a good harem. It's not the kind that have big breasts in an ecchi manga, but more like girls that have feelings toward the MC. Each one of them has a skill that help the main character in a way. -They are smart and ... overpowered. The kind of character that can beat 100 persons alone in less than 5 sec. Both are skilled in lots of kind of  read more report Recommended by LunaticPsyker Both of the main characters have the same personalities, have a dark past, hides some kind of ability and are trying to live normal lives. report Recommended by matrix01 Both MC are over power and are misterious about their past. Both work for the military or some kind of government agency. You have harem in both but in Grisaia is more enjoyable because it's not that cliche and also it kinda gives and explanation of why the girls like him not just because he is the MC. The main setting in both is inside a high school. The biggest difference is that one has fantasy and magic and the other doesn't. If you watch Mahouka setting you're going to enjoy Grisaia, and in my own personal point of view, Grisaia is better with a deeper plot and  read more report Recommended by moistpizza Both mc's are cold and are viewed as powerful people, the difference is that Grisaia no Kajitsu does not have any magic and is mostly focused on the students themselves while Mahouka Koukou has magic and is more focused on fighting but they both have the same feeling and that is the MC is badass. report Recommended by Blaxican -Both have OP main lead male characters- -Awesome story- -Pretty girls- -But wait there is some difference between Grisaia no Kajitsu and Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei -Which is Grisaia no Kajitsu shows more of grim side of life, there is things that some scenes young viewers not might like or think might be disturbing but it also shows how life is wonderful ? hmm idk about last part though. -In Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei nothing to say much of this show just watch both report Recommended by aikopooh The protagonist is literally the same person incarnated into a different story line. Very similar in lots of ways. The primary difference being the lack of magic and the addition of fanservice to the Grisaia story line. report Recommended by Jammed Mahouka and Grisaia series have a badass MC with cool support characters around him. In Mahouka most of the support characters don´t get developed and the story revolves around the MC and the MH while in Grisaia you´ll see cool backstories with a lot of drama and action. With you like series with good MCs, good animation, sound tracks,ETC you´ll certainly like it. report Recommended by lavocat - Both series have main male characters who have pasts that were meant to be kept secret, and military based. - They are both Extraordinary Strong. - Each of these characters being strongly influenced by their sisters. - Both feature a male character who seems calm and strong and has a secret. - The secret in both cases is their involvement in some group that fights and kills. - Both characters attend a special school and pretend to be normal high school students while hiding their true self. - report Recommended by AreyKyoya If you're looking for a Strong, Badass with Cold attitude and with a dark past to boot then this is what you're looking for. Both male lead are very skilled in fighting. Both have harem and a little bit of romance. Both male lead have a sister, one being overprotective and the other is sort of a complex All in All Both are Great Anime to watch. report Recommended by xspectrex The protagonists of the anime are serious and cold, and that makes the anime more interesting to watch. report Recommended by Psycho00 Both got bad ass MC's and when I say badass I don't mean stupid MC who charges in the battle without a plan and by some miracle win. Yes I'm talking about calm and collected MC's who uses not only brute force but his intelligence as well. Though sometimes they can be pretty dense. report Recommended by TaurusxSilver If you are looking for a main character that is nonchalant, who has little to no emotions at all and is trained to be an ice-cold killing machine with a sister complex. Then this anime is the right one for you. Even though the stories are a tad bit different I would still highly recommend watching Grisaia and Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei for their stories and their protagonist. They are both great animes and you will love them both. report Recommended by LordGordon Both anime share similar protagonists in which they both hold unparalleled abilities compared to their peers as well as having cool and collected personalities. While coming off as cold and somewhat uncaring, they make sure to protect those that matter to them when it counts. The Irregular at Magic High School is more magic based and has its fair share of action. However, if you like more "realistic" settings (simply the lack of magic) and higher stakes, Fruits of Grisaia is a must watch if you liked The Irregular at Magic High School. While their plots are fairly different, they are quite reminiscent to one  read more report Recommended by AnotherDegen MC is quite similiar, from appearance to character it self, they're resembling each other. School themed, one is harem and one is harem like (?). The only difference, one use magic and the other didn't. report Recommended by Kohidesu_
Anime: Bakemonogatari Bakemonogatari addpermalink Almost the same art style with the main protagonist being aware of his situations and intelligent. Also girls. report Recommended by Instabang Read recommendations by 12 more users The MCs both meet a ton of girls which have problems and he helps them with solving said problems. In the Monogatari series, the MC is a vampire and the girls are often possessed by spirits or aberrations (often caused trough past traumas etc). In Grisaia the MC is a trained assassin and the girls all suffer from mental disorders/traumas. Some of the girls in Monogatari also suffer from mental disorders next to their possession. Monogatari is more intellectual and does things really smart. A lot of irony and methaphorical wordplay. Grisaia takes itself too serious at times but it's a fun ride. Both  read more report Recommended by Pjorn Both are harem anime, and have some ecchi&service scenes. Each of the heroines have a dark past. The MCs, Yuuji in Grisaia series and Koyomi in Monogatari series, although their personalities are totally contrary, both of them have bravery and sense of justice to save the heroines around them. Both series have the same character designer--Watanabe Akio, so the characters seem alike, especially Yumiko(in Grisaia series) and Hitagi(in Monogatari series). report Recommended by lee960707 -MC are both going to extreme measures for people unralated to them -MC is surrounded by very attractive and unique heroines that fall for them -MC is the most luckiest person in the anime universe at the same time, so unlucky because of what happened to them in the past that made them to help the heroines. report Recommended by jethrix I dropped Bakemonogatari around episode 9 due to spoilers from friends, internet and I just couldn't keep up with the order to watch But Grisaia and Bakemonogatari have similar elements. Male MC tries to help the female characters's. both have lots of dialogues except Grisaia has some mature content report Recommended by TheJohn All of the main characters in each series are carrying a serious trauma, which manifests itself through their personalities, afflictions, and actions. While it may seem on the surface that they're "just fine," deep down they're all struggling and coping with it in different ways. The male main character of each series is involved in healing the trauma of each girl, through his own strange methods, to let them help themselves and recover. In many cases the coping mechanism is represented metaphorically as something completely different. report Recommended by n_w_x Oddly enough I can't stop thinking about Monogatari series while I watch Grisaia no kajitsu. It is very similar in terms of artstyle and direction. The series revolves around mostly dialogs (as in Monogatari) but is less dense and more humor packed. Interactions in general are VERY alike and you can easily tell they got inspired by Monogatari series. Very recommended if you are a fan of the series and want a refreshing yet similar thing. Also if you are like me and you like nudity, GnK has plenty of it. report Recommended by cornflak3 Main character goes around solving problems for different girls. The 'problems' in both anime are supernatural but has symbolism to real problems like loneliness. report Recommended by ERMAHGERD1920 Interesting Characters + badass mc + crazy artstyle + epic animation.the grisaia series and the monogatari series are quite similar report Recommended by peodsgns Grisaia also tells a story about serious problems and trauma, in less abstract but more grounded and even brutal way. Deals with themes I've rarely seen in movies (if at all), can make you rethink your life and maybe face some unwanted truth. Characters, even if compressed more in comparison, still are likeable and relatable. While Monogatari Series deserves it's place among best anime ever made, Grisaia is greatly underrated in my opinion report Recommended by Nememe Both harems with girls where each girl gets some focus to understand them and get attached. The comedy and drama-esque vibes are similar. Just watching this made me think of the Monogatari Series. report Recommended by mayone1ghs if u like monogatari series u prob like these series too but monogatari>grisaia report Recommended by RelavAnime Both of the anime revolves around girls who's having a drama in it's current time that has a connection with each of the girls past. Both does have a mysterious main character who helps the girls. Both story focused on the girl's depth character that can make them realateable and likeable, well of course there's the annoying loli. report Recommended by Daxonzion-
Anime: Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e addpermalink Similarities: Both of the MCs have hidden, tragic pasts that turn them into cold, calculated, and close to emotionless badasses. Thus, both the MCs are very strong. Similar harem type concept in both shows with the girls in the harems also being special in more psychological terms. Very similar art style and production, had to even check if they were made by the same studio. Very similar twisted side of human nature shown in both, expressed in the same powerful, distinct art style that Grisaia used. report Recommended by Honesty Read recommendations by 7 more users main characters are very similar and even the characters are kinda similar. report Recommended by running4ever Both series offer a serious look at how characters with mysterious, unusual, or tragic backstories evolve and interact when brought together in a unique academic setting. How do these influences shape character behavior? The role of the personality facade is a major part of both Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e (Classroom of the Elite) and Grisaia no Kajitsu (The Fruit of Grisaia), with characters deliberately suppressing a side of them in favor of exaggerating other, possibly artificial personality traits. Cutthroat academic competition and cynical worldviews shape behaviors in Classroom of the Elite while complex backstories shape the characters of The Fruit of Grisaia.  read more report Recommended by TyphoonHarry Watching Classroom of the Elite really reminded me of Grisaia. The MCs are very similar, and the main supporting characters/harem around the MCs are similar too. Even the themes resemble each other to a large extent, both revolve around the protagonist helping a bunch of girls with their respective issues, Grisaia to a larger extent than Classroom of the Elite. Parts of the storylines in both verge towards the ridiculous. They both have a relatively large amount of unnecessary fanservice, but nice animation and sound. Classroom of the Elite does the school aspect better and focusses on the environment more, but Grisaia has better developed characters  read more report Recommended by AmishaelMA Both give me the same; Ayanokoji seems like a copy of Yuuji, both seldom express their emotion, seemingly deadpanning almost all the time, both stories are based in an academy for "defective" people (class in Youkoso's case), the protags are deeply shrouded in mystery and they both seem to have had a rough childhood.. report Recommended by Sinistrait The most similar thing is THE MC Both mc's are mysterious Both have a back story Both are genius and badass And both mc always have a poker face which you can't read Plot is also similar and both anime hits you psycologicaly. report Recommended by MidKnight__ Both MCs have a dark past that made them who they are. And yes, obviously there are some girls that fall for the mc, but clearly not stated. I'd describe the MCs to be: - Highly Intelligent. - Extremely good at hand-to-hand combat. - Mysterious. - Merciless report Recommended by Wagonaire Cold, emotionless, overwhelmingly powerful MC who hides his power? Check, except Kouji is even better. Fan service? Check, except COTE's isn't nearly as distracting. MC who doesn't react to the harem? Check. High school full of insane people with tragic backstories? Check. report Recommended by captainkunnka
Anime: Angel Beats! Angel Beats! addpermalink Seems like they're at a school type of setting trying to get over some sort of past they had to move on and live life. Each character has some unique personality or past that is gone over and also has a story to go with them. report Recommended by Excelion Read recommendations by 7 more users The dark theme, the romance between some characters, Grisaia no Kajitsu really gives a wave of Angel Beats! back to me, since I haven't cried on a 13-episode series since Angel Beats! Beautiful anime, also they reflect alot about death and what there is after it. report Recommended by Animaker During the first few episodes of Grisaia no Kajitsu, these two shows didn't seem to have any similarities. But as the story went on, I found they were quite alike. They depict how a past tragedy changes the characters' whole lives. And our protagonist helps them to accept their fate. Moreover, they both have a special school as setting, mild animation, and decent music composition. report Recommended by dnpdn ~ Both feature a mysterious male protoganist joining a school ~ The school is filled with people with troublesome/dark pasts, including the MC ~ The MC tries to help everyone overcome their pasts ~ Both feature random spurts of comedy report Recommended by Buttmuffin The main male protagonist helps each one of the main characters to get over there tragic past and ends up solving their problems. The tragedies are also very similar to that of Angel Beats. report Recommended by Rohit_Kumar both are similar in terms of feels and stress but Grisaia no Kajitsu has 10 times more stress specially around the last 4 episodes of the first series report Recommended by TheJohn Both anime has characters with different tragic past . And one MC tries to fix or heal their past report Recommended by 833M0L3 Each of the characters has their own personal story, and the series uncovers them one by one. They are much darker backstories than those of Angels Beats though report Recommended by tommynguyen1
Anime: Little Busters! Little Busters! addpermalink These two series follow multiple students' lives. The art style in both, for the most part, is bishoujo...Which, you guessed it, means they have harem elements. However, they are most similar for having a hint of mystery rather than just vapid (or simplistic) slice of life. To be warned, however, Grisaia has a lot more outright fanservice and violence, while Little Busters has little to none of those things. Both of these anime keep an air of drama to them, through character development and interpersonal relationships. They also have that clean, crisp artistic style found in a lot of vn-based anime. report Recommended by Valkyrie_Wings Read recommendations by 3 more users Pretty similar although being quite different. -Both start off with a bunch of characters of unknown past -Both keep on evolving around these characters and their relationships -Both have a highschool as the main place of the action itself -Both are based on the stories of the characters, and how they all together manage to reach something. -The characters are pretty the same in basic terms: the loli, the ecchi one.. Both are pretty recommended and intend to go for the drama, with pretty good art styles and music. report Recommended by Visnu Same school settings. A special school, a bunch of friends, hostel life and main character trying to interact with a bunch of girls and helping them out. Little Busters has an element of supernatural and fantasy and Grisaia is more psychological. report Recommended by chattha15 Little Busters and Grisaia both share a theme in which the characters' identities are greatly shaped by their pasts. This isn't isolated to just the male protagonists; many of the female leads in both Little Busters and Grisaia are also affected. Furthermore, LB and Grisaia have storylines that are presented in separate "arcs", in which each arc centers around one of the female leads. I would recommend checking both series out if you get the chance. report Recommended by -Remix-
Anime: Clannad Clannad addpermalink Harem. Fun and entertaining story in which the main character: a lazy good-looking sarcastic teenager with some secrets, opens up the possibility of redemption to the hot girls that surround him by helping them out. report Recommended by IchikuRyodai Read recommendations by 3 more users Both revolve mostly around a male MC who helps out each girl with her problems. Both series are originally based off visual novels and thus have many harem aspects to them. Both series managed to make me cry a lot so they're both successful tearjerkers. report Recommended by trigger_segfault The word 'harem' generally has a static meaning, but Grisaia no Kajitsu and Clannad redefine it. Both are stunning school romance dramas, featuring similar protagonists. They follow the same formula, dedicating a few episodes to each of the girls. Both series are effective tearjerkers and are absolutely heartbreaking. report Recommended by lycheejane There are a lot of similarities between both of these with a few differences storywise and character backstory too. Grisaia is heavier in terms of violence, has less episodes and is less of a tear jerker compared to Clannad but they are both based off visual novels with the premisse of solving someone's problems about their past. report Recommended by HellBorn99
Anime: Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai addpermalink Both MCs have dealt with trauma, and they both help girls with their own traumatic experiences. Its like a darker version more hardcore one of Bunny Girl Senpai. report Recommended by BastardNas Read recommendations by 2 more users Similar MC characteristics and help his female counterpart in school report Recommended by SozeSenpai *Both Mc thinks as a Chadd *Harem (alike) *All the FMCs (most of it) thinks that the mc is dashing *All the main FMC has problems with their life. And the MC must help them to solve their problems. report Recommended by jXcileJ
Anime: Full Metal Panic! Full Metal Panic! addpermalink Grisaia no Kajitsu is like what would happen if you put the protagonist of Full Metal Panic in the events of Bakemonogatari written by the guys of Key with help from Gen Urobuchi. Both GnK and FMP are romantic comedy anime about teenaged secret military top soldiers sent to a normal school where they try to live "normal" lives. Both start out with lots of comedy, then become dark fairly quick. Although, while GnK stays mostly dark after, FMP goes back and forth with comedy. report Recommended by justice0 Read recommendations by 1 more user Well, both anime represent gigachad mc-kuns who can solo kill whole army squadrons while protecting their harem of cute girls drooling over them. report Recommended by Amadeiro
Anime: Rewrite Rewrite addpermalink They both have multiple heroines with a male protagonist as the main character at the center of everything. Each heroine has a unique past later found out through the anime. However, "Rewrite" has a supernatural theme to it unlike the series of "Grisaia". report Recommended by DomoTheOriginal Read recommendations by 1 more user No spoilers, but the plot twists and "fake" appeal make Rewrite similar. report Recommended by AwfulPerson
Anime: Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru. addpermalink Both animes have similar plot structures and main characters who are poignant in their personality and seem rather cautious of others. SNAFU is a bit more down to earth with hints of romance. While Grisaisa seems ordinary, but really hints at dark humor. What these two shows possess in common is nuanced character interactions and dialogue, whilst Grisaia being a tad darker than SNAFU. report Recommended by reluctantbeeswax Read recommendations by 1 more user If you read the synopsis of both anime you might think how are they similiar? Well its because they are both unique to to their genre. Grisia is not the typical harem as you learn by the end of the first episode that it has dark elements in it. Yahari isn't one of those rom-coms where all the characters are happy and optimistic. Both have dark elements to them that aren't expected for their genre. In addition, the main cast for both anime have completely different personalities from each other so no two characters feel the same. report Recommended by tousen750
Anime: Aldnoah.Zero Aldnoah.Zero addpermalink While both series belong to different genres, one thing they both have in common is a similarly stoic protagonist who is always logical and hardly ever expresses emotion. And in both series, they're both mysterious protagonists, since very little backstory is given to explain their stoic personalities. But in Grisaia no Meikyuu and Grisaia no Rakuen, we eventually learn a lot more about Yuuji's backstory, explaining why he is the way he is. On the other hand, Aldnoah Zero's second season never explains Inaho's backstory. report Recommended by Jagged_85 Read recommendations by 1 more user While both series belong to different genres, one thing they both have in common is a similarly stoic protagonist who is always logical and hardly ever expresses emotion. Anime: Gokukoku no Brynhildr Gokukoku no Brynhildr addpermalink If you give the girls in each series a lugubrious backstory and fetishize them completely and you have two very similar works. The narratives in each are somewhat action based, but ultimately neither feel too far away from being just another Elfen Lied clone ten years too late. report Recommended by Detective Read recommendations by 1 more user Both are serious harem story. both MC protects the girls. Anime: Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai addpermalink The World God Only Knows and Grisaia no Kajitsu are both in the Harem anime genre: multiple girls fall in love with one guy. The first season of Grisaia no Kajitsu and the first two seasons of The World God Only Knows are divided into several arcs, one for each heroine the main protagonist meets. One major trait shared by these two anime that made me really like them both is their amount and quality of character development. The story and romance is a little more grounded than in Grisaia Has 3 seasons and OVAs which actually constructively gets better as the story/background develops. The anime like the source material has the story line and conclusion in mind from beginning to end. Well developed themes and character development of the protaganist who saves everyone. Has some dark overtones like Grisaia, but is overall better focused in unifying all story arcs into a satisfying conclusion. Harem overtones are downplayed until the last season, but actually contributes to the story in conclusion. report Recommended by vinchenso
Anime: Hidan no Aria Hidan no Aria addpermalink Grisaia no Kajitsu's main male lead is simply Hidan no Aria's lead with his assassin mode left on. These Anime's also both contain a lot of the same features: - A strong male Lead. - A main love interest (With other party's trying to get involved.) - In depth Character development. - An action packed story. - A out of the ordinary school setting. There are some differences for instance: - Grisaia no Kajitsu is classed as an Harem (Hidan no Aria is not but does contain many features of a harem.) - Hidan no Aria contains humans with supernatural powers. report Recommended by Itzal

(•My personal opinion but both shows are very good.) Differences: •Grisaia No Kajitsu has nudity while Darker Than Black doesn't have any. •People in Darker Than Black has powers due to contracts that were made while Grisaia No Kajitsu doesn't. report Recommended by RFernandez23
Anime: Kanon (2006) Kanon (2006) addpermalink These two series, both based on VNs, feature similar structures in their attempts to uncover as much of as many of the routes as possible in a very short timeframe (We're talking about a 20 hour VN compared against an 8 hour show, after all). Grisaia has far more "ecchi" elements to it, and much fewer supernatural elements than Kanon, but the viewer who enjoys one would likely enjoy the other. report Recommended by Kytrarewn

On top of that, MC-kun helps the girl in need and ends up falling for him. •Each female characters have a distinct personality (never a dull moment). •Plenty of fan service. (If you like older/younger sister having a crush on the brother than try the show out) •Similar genres (romance, harem, ecchi, action, etc.). My personal opinion but both are very good. I highly recommend you to try the anime. report Recommended by RFernandez23

Anime: Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou Kareshi Kanojo no Jijou addpermalink Both shows focus on characters who were masks day by day to secretly hide their problems. As the story progress', the characters begin unraveling their masks and being more true to themselves report Recommended by Short_Circut
Anime: Fate/Zero Fate/Zero addpermalink Similarities: -Lots of screaming -Lots of dying -Both the shows have a protagonist that is involved with assassination. -Both have mother like figures who teach and raise the protagonist. -Really touching story -You will cry a lot. -You will cry a lot. Again Differences: -One has a potential harem while the other doesnt. -Fate/zero has a fantasy genre BASICALLY WATCH BOTH report Recommended by Alvin_Abiliuse
Anime: Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate Koi to Senkyo to Chocolate addpermalink Similarities: • A happy-go-lucky comedy with something darker underneath. • Characters with traumas in their pasts, and who are struggling to deal with it in their own ways. • Certain similar events taking place (it's hard to explain this without spoilers) • Foreshadows the mystery and darkness early, then dials it back to gradually sneak it back in later • Both have music composed by Elements Garden Dissimilarities: • Where Grisaia's underlying plot is more believable, Koi to Senkyo to Chocolote is more absurd. • KoiChoco is more plot driven, GnK is more character driven • Lots of fan service in GnK, not so much in KoiChoco. report Recommended by Red_Tuesday
Anime: Kokoro Connect Kokoro Connect addpermalink Both contain a male protagonist who helps his classmates with their personal troubles, getting closer to them in the process. Of course, the differences in genre and audience reveal the differences in how the protagonists go about it. Some characters share similar traits, but none worth mentioning. report Recommended by Reload
Anime: Btooom! Btooom! addpermalink It's a (Grisaia) spoiler, but both shows have a segment of the story where a group of people get stranded in the wilderness together and have to compete for survival. Btooom is more playful, but Grisaia really delves in the horror of it. report Recommended by PlzAllow
Anime: No Game No Life No Game No Life addpermalink -Main characters are very strong indeed. Yuuji from Grisaia wants a normal student life on the other hand Sora wants some action. They are both skilled in some way Yuuji is based on assasination and martial arts combat, Sora is a true no life gamer who does not need anybody except for his younger sister Shiro. -In both animes they use their brains to solve problems however in no game no life is about games as I said and in Grisaia is more about solving other people's (past and present) problems. -There is plot in both series -Grisaia is more of an psychological anime and no game  read more report Recommended by Dechev
Anime: Akuma no Riddle Akuma no Riddle addpermalink They both relates to assassination. Both main characters protects a female character or characters. The feeling you get from watching Akuma no Riddle is similar to the Grisaia series. report Recommended by Krazybigk
Anime: Tasogare Otome x Amnesia Tasogare Otome x Amnesia addpermalink These two start out pretty light-hearted, with only hints of some darkness. The storylines involve high school-aged kids. However, in the final few episodes, plot twists abound and they become very dark. report Recommended by Valkyrie_Wings
Anime: H2O: Footprints in the Sand H2O: Footprints in the Sand addpermalink These series both focus on harem elements. They can have some comedy and light-hearted moments, but something darker with a hint of mystery lies underneath. Grisaia, I think, is a little more dark than H2O. But they are both satisfying mystery-type harems IF you enjoy these genres/themes. report Recommended by Valkyrie_Wings
Anime: Myself; Yourself Myself; Yourself addpermalink Both have a focus on characters that work on getting over sad pasts including mental illness and trauma. report Recommended by Raine98765
Anime: Kyokou Suiri Kyokou Suiri addpermalink The drama and progression of the story line have a similar feel. The pacing of the shows of smaller cases that lead up to a large multi-episode arc is also similar. report Recommended by Raine98765
Anime: Air Air addpermalink These two series are bishoujo, visual novel-based harems. They feature a colorful cast of characters that actually get development (some more than others) in their respective arcs. Grisaia is more fanservice and violence-heavy, though. They both contain tragedy and plot twists. report Recommended by Valkyrie_Wings
Anime: Shuffle! Shuffle! addpermalink Both Male protagonists are forced into relations with multiple girls. Each character has a secret that they would rather not share with others. Both stories are set around school life and how each character builds deeper friendships with one another. Both series share Comedy, Drama, Romance, Ecchi, and Harem genre elements. report Recommended by Obeythealfa
Anime: Juuou Mujin no Fafnir Juuou Mujin no Fafnir addpermalink As far as the setting goes, the two aren't very similar, but that's not the case with the main characters. Both come from a relatively secretive background and have had some sort of special training. They both attend a formerly-all girls academy where they create a harem. The biggest difference between the two is that Juuou Mujin no Fafnir's MC is comparably a lot less fleshed out and more potato-y than Grisaia no Kajitsu's protagonist. report Recommended by -Droid-
Anime: 5-toubun no Hanayome 5-toubun no Hanayome addpermalink Both anime have central plots of an MC with a serious demeanor, who tries to help each of the 5 main girls accept themselves and each other. The part that differs and makes QQ so enjoyable, by dodging cliches in present in most harems the show is able to stay funny. So if you liked Grisaia but wished for a more lighthearted, wholesome and a bigger emphasis on romance, I 100% recommend QQ. optional read Got me back into anime after a long 2-3 year hiatus. so pretty damn good :) report Recommended by Chronologically
Anime: Elfen Lied Elfen Lied addpermalink - both psychological af - childhood connections with the male characters - sexy ass females - lots of killing differences: - grisaia no kajitsu is more school themed and characters are more fucked in the head - elfen lied is supernatural and brutal - graphics are completely different but thats what you would expect from such a gap in age report Recommended by clair3_jan3
Anime: Mayoiga Mayoiga addpermalink Both shows involve a cast of people who have had tough pasts and desire to escape them. Mayoiga has that "horror" hint to it whereas Grisaia doesn't. Grisaia has a smaller cast than Mayoiga which allows a clear story and character development (in my opinion) I'm surprised no one else has recommended Grisaia for Mayoiga. report Recommended by Mikan265
Anime: Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai Daitoshokan no Hitsujikai addpermalink There is not a whole lot that is similar between the two animes but there is a bit. In daitoshokan, the main chracter is lighthearted when compared to the main chracter of the fruit of grisaia but the main premise is similar how at one point or another the main mc helps each girl with something they have or had trouble with in their lives also like every anime of this genre all the girls are in love with the main chracter report Recommended by mesieurt
Anime: Fate/Zero 2nd Season Fate/Zero 2nd Season addpermalink This is a very specific comparison, but Grisaia no Kajitsu’s protagonist has an origin story that parallels much of what we see in Kiritsugu’s early childhood. Grisaia has a story based more around a scientific world that has many elements and seems often times unfocused, but the attention to character development also is a similarity between these two series. report Recommended by Pvt_Diny
Anime: IS: Infinite Stratos IS: Infinite Stratos addpermalink - The main character in both series is studying at a girls' only school although they are male. - Both Yuuji and Ichika have a harem, although, in one of the anime, the choice that the main character is going to make / has made is more obvious than in the other. - Both have a lot of ecchi content. report Recommended by TheXchidori
Anime: Steins;Gate Steins;Gate addpermalink The two Animes starts with a humorous beginning of the protagonists. The two protagonists are intellectual of their surroundings and will make the impossible into a possible situation. Although Steins;Gate was in more of a fantasy realm, and Grisaia no Kajitsu is more of a realistic realm, Steins;Gate is a very mysterious and mind-blowing Anime to watch. report Recommended by Mik33o
Anime: ef: A Tale of Memories. ef: A Tale of Memories. addpermalink Both animes gives to the viewer the similar feeling of dependency and sadness that each heroine has to the hero of the story. Also in both stories heroines have to carry a huge pain and burden in their hearts and the hero helps them to overcome. report Recommended by pc_magas
Anime: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Higurashi no Naku Koro ni addpermalink Both have this feeling of "moe, gore and harem" with them and are based on visual novels. Grisaia no Kajitsu's first ep ended up just like Higurashi would, with this dark feeling on it. I must admit I was going to drop it, but for some reason I ended up watching the whole ep, and I'm glad I did. It's not so bad, however, it has this feeling of "getting worse during next episodes" that I hate. I guess that if you liked Higurashi you'll at least have this nostalgia feeling with Grisaia, since they're pretty similar. report Recommended by sabinseparte
Anime: Triage X Triage X addpermalink - Both MC are cynical, has a mysterious difficult past and are exceptionally skilled shooters, therefore they remind of each other - Both series has a school setting with a slight of ecchi though - While the plot of GnK is a drama/psychological-focused plot, Triage X goes by action/adventure. Altough the story of them differ from each other report Recommended by JJkunLL
