    Which is better?

I can get a 460 for maybe 29 usd but most probably 36 usd.

A 650 ti would take me for 64 usd and th oc edition will be 68 usd.

But for the 460, i will definitely nid to buy a new psu for 36 usd while the 650ti MIGHT work with my current 350W psu.

    650. Hence the bigger number. Check how much powder the gfx card needs, should be in specs or something

A bigger number doesn't always means more performance. It just so happens in this case that the 650ti is more powerful.

no, not always. But normally it does. More so with older generations. Price is also an indicator

Technically the Fermi cores that are in the 460 are much more powerful than those Kepler cores though run much hotter. #Thermi

i wasn't around back then and know nothing about the cards. So I just googled and had a look, I'm quite surprised at the results. I expected the 650ti to be quite a lot better tbh. Luckily, my numbers theory came out on top this time ;) info for op. Might be useful. http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-650-Ti-Boost-vs-Nvidia-GTX-460/2190vs2167

I didn't mean total performance of the cards, I meant a single Fermi core is more powerful than a single Kepler or even Maxwell core. Theoretically if you have an equal amount of cores, ll running at the same speed, the Fermi cores will come out on top. The 480 for example has roughly 50% less cores but is much more powerful compared to the 650ti despite running at a lower clock. Fermi is quite impressive, just VERY hot and power hungry.

oh yeah I knew what you mean about the cores. That is quite impressive though. I guess as time goes on and dies shrink, the need for performance per core gets outweighed by amount. Probably have better performance per core now though. But idk. I just thought 2 generations would see performance improve a lot more than between these two cards

But a GTX 650 Ti OC will cost more than twice of a GTX 460 over here in my country...

    What about a 550 Ti vs a GTX 460?

The 550ti will be the same or worse as the 460. The 650ti will give about 30-40% more performance over the 460.

    15% is already pushing it!

550ti is noticeably slower than the 460 though:

lol I just realized I looked at the very same benchmarks wrong. Woops, at least I was right that it performed higher albeit the percentage was off.
