I want to upgrade graphics performance, but i'm not sure what to go with. If I do get another 770, I will definitely need another motherboard, and possibly another PSU. I have one Windforce 4gb OC 770 at the moment, and i'm stuck with what I should do. Any help guys? ![]()

I would get the 290x if you need to update all the rest to get another 770.

Posted August 19, 2014 The dual 770 setup would indeed perform better than an R9 290X.
I would go dual GPUs before a 290X personally, but that's just me. You will have to buy a new motherboard though, which won't exactly help the budget.

Two 770s will definitely perform better than a 290x. They even beat a GTX Titan Black.
PLUS you got the 4GB 770s! So you can upgrade to 1440p or 4k no problem. I would definitely get a second one.
A motherboard upgrade should be done anyway, whatever graphics cards you buy. PSU is fine too, I wouldn't worry about it unless you';re OCing a lot.

ok didnt see this build
only one glaring part
a K series CPU on a B85 board...
I will say the cheaper option will be the R9 290 Tri-X now
and later change the mobo to a proper Z97 board

Yes, that is a good course of action, I would not have recommended that motherboard in the first instance, it is quite a mismatch!
Perhaps the Z97-G55 SLI would be a good board without spending too much.

you'd probably need Mobo update; PSU is perfect however even for SLI/Xfire

There should be a BIOS for your board that will unlock overclocking potential.

good idea
but the 290 will be the cheaper option
dual 290s will easily drive a single 1440P monitor

There is, I just haven't got around to it. I should look into it, especially because I just got a h55 cooler. My CPU was thermal throttling BF4. I could smell the silicone burning on the chip. ![]()

Posted August 19, 2014 If you have 2 PCI 3.0 slots but your motherboard is not SLI compatible, you can use HyperSLI.

Because, Genuis, I had 3 monitors. The 770 was $300 cheaper than the 780. 4GB has been glorious for my monitors, however i've only got two left. I want to upgrade becasuse i want a new better monitor.
