May 15, 2016 98 0 10,660 Hello Guys! So, I currently own a GTX 780, but it's getting a little old now, and also consumes a lot of power. There is the GTX 1050 Ti, that doesn't look bad, consumes way less power, much newer (therefore better driver support) and I'm not really sure if it would worth swapping my 780 to a 1050 Ti, I don't know if the 1050 Ti could bring the same performance as the 780. Right now the GTX 1050 Ti is a little bit expensive for an entry level GPU since it has just been released. Your thoughts? Solution http://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-780-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti/2164vs3649 Your 780 would blow it out of the water. Don't even consider it. A 780 is still a good card for 1080p. Aug 25, 2016 1,956 0 6,960 Not a nice change, considering these reviews: * http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-780-vs-GeForce-GTX-1050-Ti * http://hwbench.com/vgas/geforce-gtx-1050-ti-vs-geforce-gtx-780 The 780 is stronger or at equal performance than the 1050Ti and it's power consumption, while considerably higher won't be really noticeable. I'd say, if you want a a little upgrade try to get a RX 470 or if you have a little more money to spend, getting a GTX 1060 or RX 480 will be nice deal! Upvote 0 Downvote 13thmonkey

Jan 10, 2006 24,790 350 75,790 driver support difference is not an issue until they stop supporting the 700's, they still support the 400's so you've a few years left 1050ti will be slower than a 780, which is = to a 970/1060 The power usage difference is maybe 80W at full load, so for every 12hrs of full load the 780 will cost you an extra unit of electricity (12p in the UK). So I wouldn't change. Upvote 0 Downvote RobCrezz

Feb 6, 2015 30 0 4,540 The GTX 780 is still a much more capable card than a 1050 Ti, if you were going for worthy upgrade go for a GTX 1060 or higher. Upvote 0 Downvote P

Jan 10, 2006 24,790 350 75,790 It is an improvement, but is it enough of one? http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1771?vs=1718 Are you actually having problems, i'd wait for 1160 unless you are suffering, or wait for the 1070's to age a little and become cheaper. Upvote 0 Downvote RobCrezz

Yes its pretty significant, while consuming a lot less power and a lot less heat. The link you posted shows the considerable improvement pretty well. Upvote 0 Downvote 13thmonkey

Jan 10, 2006 24,790 350 75,790 Is it the 3 tier kind of improvement? is it worth that cost? I think it's actually borderline. It's around 50%, which would take you from barely playable to nicely playable, or maintain speed whilst going from med to high/ultra, but it's not wow! But what's money worth? Yeah I know what you mean. The thing that made it worth while for me, was that at the moment 780s are still getting very good money on the used market. The upgrade cost me around £100, which I thought was decent based on the benefits. Also I play at 1440p, so it might be a bit more noticeable than 1080p. Upvote 0 Downvote 13thmonkey

Mar 3, 2017 1 0 510 I have both cards, an EVGA GTX-780 Ti SC and two MSI GTX-1050 Ti. The GTX-780 is MUCH, MUCH better and faster. Look at the detailed specs and you'll see that your question is verging on ridiculous. The 780 is not by any means an "old" card. it's still faster than most cards NVIDIA is putting out. Yeah, well I decided to go with the 1060. Happy with it so far. Amazing card. Upvote 0 Downvote You must log in or register to reply here.
