May 11, 2017 4 0 510 I have a msi gaming 960 2gb card right now and I'm wondering if it's worth it to get a 1050ti for gaming. I mostly play on 1080p. Thanks Solution rcald2000 : No, not at all. The 1050 Ti is slightly slower. The minimum upgrade that you should consider is a GTX 1060 6 GB. That is indeed true, the one advantage you will have is the extra 2gb of VRAM if you go for the 4gb version, which I`m pretty sure the 1050ti comes out with anyway, but board partners do weird things sometimes. But as he said, a GPU upgrade needs to make sense in the long run. Rule of thumb is to jump at least 2 tiers in GPU power when upgrading, that`s what I like to do, but to each his own. I do however believe that in some games you might experience more performance but not enough to justify the buy. The GTX 1060 3Gb would be a better choice in your case. Or a RX570 would also be a good upgrade. Sort by date Sort by votes rcald2000

Mar 14, 2013 19,077 99 75,190 Actually the 1050 ti is faster than the 960. But probably not enough to warrant an upgrade path. perfrel_1920_1080.png Upvote 1 Downvote BigBoomBoom

Nov 3, 2009 5,611 164 28,990 I think the GTX 960 2 GB is slightly faster than the 1050 Ti 4 GB in 1080p (and lower) resolution, if it's VRAM is not exceeded. However, now that we're in Q2 of 2017, the 1050 Ti (4 GB) will probably be faster in the majority of games. Good catch Rob.
