Certification Process

Steps for Training Providers to get GWO certification from ClassNK are as follows

• STEP01

  Understanding the GWO requirements & standards

  To become a GWO-accredited training provider, you start by reading the requirements for training providers and the training standard of the specific GWO training you wish to offer. The requirements for training providers include management system requirements for providing training, and the standard training specifications establish the standards for each training program.

  

• STEP02

  Implement

  Once you have got familiar with the GWO requirements and standards, establish/modify your management system in accordance with GWO management system requirements, Create lesson plans in accordance with GWO training standards and deliver mock training until you are confident. This prepares you for the audit.

  

• STEP03

  Apply for an audit

  Submit your audit application for GWO certification to ClassNK. Upon acceptance of your application, you will be instructed for document submission, including the management system manual.

  

• STEP04

  Document Review (Stage 1 audit)

  ClassNK’s audit team reviews the submitted documents to confirm readiness for delivering training as well as for third-party auditing in accordance with GWO standards.

  

• STEP05

  On-site Audit (Stage 2 audit)

  ClassNK’s audit team observes training provided by the training provider and evaluates the training is delivered safely, as well as the content of the training and the facilities/equipment meet GWO standards.

  

• STEP06

  Issuance of Certificate

  ClassNK reports the audit results to GWO. Once it is confirmed that all standards are met, ClassNK issues a certification certificate. This allows the training provider to be listed in GWO’s website and to officially offer the specified GWO standard training as a GWO-accredited training provider.

  

• STEP07

  Continuous improvement

  After the initial certification, annual audits based on GWO standards are required. ClassNK continues to contribute to the Training Providers via providing useful information and insights.
