This manufacturing process for complete modules is disruptive and unprecedented worldwide. Marc Torrell, head of Merce Lab at IREC - Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya says “This facility positions us as pioneers in SOC manufacturing at a global scale,” adding that “this is a disruptive approach to manufacturing processes and performance of ceramic-based devices, opening the door to new SOC systems for applications that previously could not meet desired requirements, such as maritime or aviation transport”. This new infrastructure strengthens Europe’s strategic capabilities in clean hydrogen production by enabling high-precision, scalable and industry-oriented fabrication processes. The facility integrates cutting-edge deposition techniques, advanced 3D ceramic printing, nanomaterial synthesis, and accelerated lifetime testing — providing a unique environment to validate materials, optimise manufacturing routes, and accelerate technology transfer to market. 🔬 The pilot plant is already fully operational at IREC’s headquarters. The technology involved in the manufacturing process relies in results from projects at IREC such as the HyP3D led by Albert Tarancón and Antonio Gianfranco Sabato, which has recently been recognised with a European Innovation Award by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership the for its scientific and technological impact. This achievement has been made possible thanks to the strong collaboration across European partners committed to shaping the future of hydrogen, including company H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies within the framework of the Tecnopropia project (IPCEI programme), and ongoing projects CLEANHYPRO, HyP3D , #COMECOCO2 and H2SHIFT. Progress in Seville! 🇪🇸⚡️ I had a great time representing 3DCeram Sinto in Seville attending the progress meeting on the HyP3D European collaborative project at H2B2. It was nice to catch up with our partners — IREC - Institut de Recerca en Energia de Catalunya, H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies, DTU - Technical University of Denmark, VAC TRON,Politecnico di Torino, Snam S.p.A., and Barcelona Supercomputing Center — and discuss our progress on disruptive, ultra-compact, lightweight high-pressure SOEL stacks ⚡🔋 that convert electricity into compressed hydrogen for gas grid injection and on-site hydrogen refueling stations. Last Wednesday, November 5th, the HyP3D project consortium meeting took place at H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies’ facilities. The aim of this project is to develop #SolidOxideElectrolysis stacks capable of operating under pressure without the need for pressurized tanks — a significant technological advancement that positions the consortium strategically within the market. Within the framework of the project, H2B2 is in charge of the conceptual design of a solid oxide electrolyzer using the developed stacks, which will be implemented in two scenarios: A hydrogen refueling station and a Power-to-Gas (P2G) plant. It was a real pleasure to welcome our partners to our facilities and share with them the progress achieved so far. *** El pasado miércoles, 5 de noviembre, tuvo lugar en las instalaciones de H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies la reunión de consorcio del proyecto HyP3D. Este proyecto tiene como objetivo el desarrollo de stacks de #Electrólisis de #ÓxidoSólido capaces de operar a presión sin necesidad de tanques presurizados, lo que representa un avance tecnológico significativo y posiciona al consorcio en un lugar estratégico dentro del mercado. En el marco del proyecto, H2B2 es responsable del diseño conceptual de un electrolizador de óxido sólido que empleará los stacks desarrollados, los cuales se implementarán en dos escenarios: una estación de servicio de hidrógeno y una planta Power-to-Gas (P2G). Ha sido un verdadero placer recibir a nuestros socios en nuestras instalaciones y compartir con ellos los progresos alcanzados hasta la fecha.
