erik6911 E well it seems my last thread turned into a debate on whether or not you should buy cheap ebay hid kits or not, rather than really answering my question. But i also have another question.... the h9 high beam bulb stock is a 65 watt bulb, and the h11 is a 55 watt, other than that would the two bulbs fit in each others sockets? is the only difference between these bulbs the wattage? because if it is i could just order a pair of either h9 or a pair of h11 hid bulbs instead of trying to order one of each. I think it would also be cheaper this way. does anyone know if they would fit either side, high or low beam? i suppose i could take the bulbs out and try to switch them to see if they would fit, but im not home now and was just wonderin if anyone knew. Plus its effin cold outside! Thanks in advance! #1 · Jan 3, 2009 well it seems my last thread turned into a debate on whether or not you should buy cheap ebay hid kits or not, rather than really answering my question. One of them has a notch which will not allow it to fit in the socket. #13 · Jan 5, 2009 Wrong H11 will fit in either side! I have sold an installed many many sets on this bike! 0 Reply #3 · Jan 3, 2009 (Edited) Yes they will fit, the only diff is a small tab in between the terminals on the bulbs as he said above^^^. Just trim the tab down with a pair of snips or a dremel and they will fit. If you don't feel like trimming it down then head to an auto wrecker and get another H9 or H11 socket and switch it out. #4 · Jan 4, 2009 Well, I found a site that offers a kit with two different bulbs AND has a lifetime warranty. I think I'm gonna give it a try. I was also thinking of upgrading to the 55 watt ballasts, does anyone have any experience with using 55 watt HID's? Will it mess anything up? I had a 35 watt kit before and had no problems, but i am kinda hesitant about going with the 55 watt, will it melt the wiring or housing?? http://www.ddmtuning.com/ddmhidkits.html #5 · Jan 5, 2009 I have the same kit and it works great (35w). Just ordered the 55w for my car.... still waiting for them though (over 2 weeks). I'll post up about them when they come in. The low beam on my kit is plenty. I think I am going to trim mine and just install it in the high though since no one wants the other half of my kit. http://www.zx-10r.net/forum/showthread.php?t=64301 #6 · Jan 5, 2009 ive heard of issus with 55w kits. I'm not sure the big craze of the 55w kits though...I'm not sure if they are much brighter at all.. I mean, if OEM's use 35w's...thats good enough for me. I'm going to try a H11 in my H9 slot tonight. If they fit I'll be happy. I might put the other HID in my high beam. #7 · Jan 5, 2009 OEM is 55w and 65w right? Or are you talking about the OEM HIDs? Site says 40% brighter with 55w and it’s only $15 more. I just got off the phone with DDM and it looks like it's going to be about a month until I get my HIDs. They did reduce the price down to what their sale is currently though which is really cool of them. #8 · Jan 5, 2009 i saw somewhere that on average a 35 watt hid puts out about 3200 lumens, and a 55 watt does about 5000. thats a significant amount more... i had a 35 watt kit on my other bike and that was bright as hell. couldn't imagine even brighter. but i think im gonna stick with the 35 watt kit, because if there is ANY chance of problems with the 55 watt kit, then its not worth it to me. i dont like problems. #20 · Jan 6, 2009 the output is mostly from the bulbs. if you go with a 4300K (what OEM's use) you'll have the best lumen output. If you go higher or lower, you loose lumen output. When you go higher, you start to have a lot of glare too. 6000k & higher have lots of glare. Not good..... 0 Reply #9 · Jan 5, 2009 TMAC any reason its gonna take so long? i was thinkin about puttin an order in soon... i'd like to have em installed b4 spring... #10 · Jan 5, 2009 There is a lifetime warranty on the ballast and igniter through DDM so don’t turn away from 55 w for that reason. I have the 35 and it’s about 3 times brighter than stock (I love watching the reflective signs light up a mile away at night). It’s taking so long because they are so popular and cheap. They apparently had a lot of orders over the holidays and were off so they are a little behind. It’s all explained on their website. Well worth the wait though and you can’t beat the size, price, or warranty. It makes me really believe in their warranty since they were so easy to talk to on the phone. I love the color of your bike :eek:ccasion1 #11 · Jan 5, 2009 thats good to hear! i'll probably be ordering within a week. as far as not going with the 55 watt it is because people say it effs up the wiring on our bike, which i dont want. but thanks for the feedback! #12 · Jan 5, 2009 The 35 watt system will work fine and go with the 6000k bulbs and slim ballasts. I have recently become a firm believer in the 6k over any other color. I have 10k's in my 04 and 08 and just installed 6k high/low/fogs in my Trailblazer - the 6k is so much brighter. #14 · Jan 5, 2009 The lower the Kelvins the brighter, I got 4k in both of my cars Super Bright! 6 on my bike 0 Reply #15 · Jan 5, 2009 6k is perfect to me. I do like to have a slight bluish tint to my light, but I wouldn't go as far as sacrificing light output and saftey for a "pretty color". I'm glad the 2nd gen came with projectors. I know HID's in reflector housings cause a lot of hot-spots and glare, hoping these have a nice crisp cut-off. Oh and I hope DDM ships out a bit sooner than you say TMAC. I just placed an order today for the 55w ballast dual kit, but really don't want to wait a month to get them. #16 · Jan 5, 2009 I sell my kits an send them out with in 5days:dontknow: Show more replies 0 Reply #18 · Jan 5, 2009 same sockets just different harnesses, one as a little guide tab in the middle of the harness. #19 · Jan 6, 2009 those of you that just want bulbs...LMK. I can order just bulbs. My kits are 35w, all digital ballasts, and slim...smaller then my Q9C slim... Insert Quotes Post Reply
