Below the Haylou T15 review, you will finds comparisons between the Haylou T15 vs Haylou GT1 Plus, SoundPEATS TrueDot and TFZ Coco Q1.

Design, comfort and battery life

With the T15, Haylou offers a totally different model than its other, more rounded offerings below $25. The Haylou T15 has a much bigger charging case than the GT1, GT1 Plus, GT2, and even the GT1 Pro.

It's intended. The T15 charging case carries 2200mAh and is not only capable of recharging the earpieces around 15 (!) times; you can also recharge your smartphone with it, due to the USB-port in the case. As the case delivers 2200mAh, it's dependent on your phone if you can reach a full recharge with it, but it's a nice feature option to have.

Unfortunately, the case is quite heavy, and you can only power the charging case with micro-USB. Prepare to have this beast charged overnight.

The earpieces of the T15 have a different shape from the other Haylou's. They have a comparable bean-like form, but they're shorter, and they have a tiny knob on one of the corners, where the microphone is positioned. You lay these earphones horizontally in your ears.

The fit is a bit tricky - the T15 earpieces require a bit of fiddling to make them sound at their best and stay in. Once you press them in a bit, they will stay in okay - but it's safer not to sport with these. Putting the earpieces back in the case requires a bit of attention. Make sure they cling on to the magnets the right way, so you'll be assured they charge.

Connectivity and controls

The control scheme of the Haylou T5 is the same as on the other models fro the brand. Tap once to play and pause the music, tap the right bud twice to advance a song, and the left one twice to return a track. It's not possible to change the volume on the earpieces, unfortunately.

The connection of the Haylou T15 is mostly good. The Bluetooth 5.0 signal holds reliable up to ten meters, even with a wall in between.

It does sometimes have pairing difficulties, however. It doesn't always recognize your smartphone instantly (or the other way around). The remedy is to put the earpieces back in the case and then take them out again, or to hold their touch panels for 15 to 20 seconds so they reset manually. Happily, these issues appear rare. Once you're connected, everything is fine.

Calling and watching movies with GT1 Plus

Unfortunately, the Haylou T15 isn't much of an allrounder. Calling with the T15 is sub-par. It turns out that the extended microphone in the knob will very likely brush against your ear lobe. Your voice has enough volume, but it sounds very robot-like. The T15 puts through a lot of wind and surrounding noises, and every sound around you can distort your voice.

Don't try to watch a video on the YouTube-app on iPhone either: the sound is truly out of sync. Happily, watching videos still works well on other apps and the whole of Android. Gaming goes with a big delay, however.

Sound quality of Haylou T15

Haylou T15 specs.jpg

When it comes to sound quality, the Haylou T15 fares better than on the other aspects.

It has a sweet bass thump and sub-bass rumble, striking a bit harder than the on the GT1 Plus, which sounds a bit smoother and perhaps a bit dry in comparison. It does take a bit of fiddling to get the most out of the bass, however, due to the challenging fit of the Haylou T15. Simply hang the earpieces in your ears, and you may not even encounter bass at all.

But it's not the lows where this Haylou's focuses on - it's the upper-mids.

These higher frequencies are extended well: vocals and higher-pitched instruments sound forward, prominent, and reasonably detailed. They also seem more open than on the GT1 Plus, a combination that works wonders for classical pieces and rock music. The openness and upper-mids are great for guitars and shouty vocals - more attacking, assertive than the more balanced GT1 Plus. In the lows, with the right fit, they're supported well by bass-guitars as well.

In other genres, that demand both a more pumping bass - such as most modern pop music and dance genres - the Haylou T15 falls a bit short. Different layers start to fight each other in crowded tracks, and on the highest volumes, the T15 can sound a bit thin.

If you'd prefer Bach or Rage Against the Machine over modern pop tracks any day of the week, though, the Haylou T15 will thirst your blood.

Verdict

The Haylou T15 isn't the most potent model in Haylou's line-up, underperforming in fit, call quality, and pocketable size. Its sound may well compensate for it, especially if you love rock or classical pieces.

Three stars - worth considering

Haylou T15 vs Haylou GT1 Plus

Left to right: Haylou GT1 Plus, the outdated GT1 Pro and T15

The T15 has more opened-up upper-mids than the GT1 Plus, giving more room to guitars and higher-pitched vocals. Classical pieces and rock sound better on the T15 than on the Plus, although the T15 can sound thinner on higher volumes. The GT1 Plus has a more balanced sound for most genres, more warmth due to its elevated lower-mids, and is way better for phone calls and watching videos.

Haylou T15 vs SoundPEATS TrueDot

SoundPEATS TrueDot review.jpg

The current wireless earbuds winner under $25, the SoundPEATS TrueDot offers more balance between the frequencies, with still plenty of detail in the upper-mids, but more warmth and emphasis on the lows to put them in place. The TrueDot has more precise instrument placement within its soundstage and offers more detail in the bass-section and lower mids. It's also more compact.

Haylou T15 vs TFZ Coco Q1 TWS

TFZ Coco Q1 review.jpg

The $40 TFZ COCO Q1 TWS is another good choice if you love treble. Instruments in the mid-tones, such as guitars and pianos, sound a bit more natural and detailed on the Haylou. They are slightly warmer and smoother on the Coco. The Q1 has less bass and lows on lower-volumes, but strikes back on higher volumes, on which the Q1 sounds more clear and dynamic - and the T15 a bit thin. The Coco also wins on practical aspects, like the battery, comfort, and watching videos.

Haylou T15 vs QCY T5

QCY T5 review.jpg

The popular QCY T5 also has an emphasis on upper-mids and highs, but they sound a bit more closed-in and restricted than on the Haylou T15. That seems like a bad thing, but the T5 actually balances out the frequencies better. It delivers more bass and lows to counter the upper-mids, without losing clarity in the higher tones. It also sounds less shouty on higher volumes. The QCY is also more comfortable, and better for watching videos, and calling.
