skielker S 2001 Frontier, 3.3 L 4x4. Does anyone have any tricks in being able to thread the compression tester hose into cylinder 6? Also do I really need to remove all 6 plugs for a compression test? I believe my problem is in the passenger side cylinder head (cylinders 1, 3, 5). Think I have a bad valve in cylinder 1 did dry and wet compression tests on cylinders 1-5 will all those plugs removed but did not remove #6. Would my results be misleading without removing cylinder #6. I had the same results dry vs wet for the compression test. Tests were done with a wide open throttle, warm engine, fuel pump fuse removed and distributor disengaged. cyl 1 : 150 cyl 2 : 165 cyl 3: 165 cyl 4: 165 cyl 5: 165 Spark plug from cly 1 had alot of carbon build up, had a misfire code P0300, rough idle, putter and puffing at tailpipe, held a piece of paper at tailpipe and is fluttered really hard. All fuel injectors have the same ohm resistance of at 12.2. My diagnosis at this point is a bad valve in cylinder 1. But before I think about removing the heads I want people's .02 cents on my compression results without removing spark plug #6. #1 · Mar 31, 2020 2001 Frontier, 3.3 L 4x4. Does it lose pressure significantly faster? Don't discount leaky inje#1ctor or damaged coil either. The P0300 is a random misfire...not specific to any one cylinder. It's not unheard of for an 'end' piston to have lower compression that the others. #5 · Apr 1, 2020 After I wrestle out the #6 plug I will see how long the cylinders hold compression compared to each other. I'll see if I can find a way to test the coil too. Thank you for the advice. 0 Reply #3 · Mar 31, 2020 FWIW, my compression results from my VQ35 are posted here... www.nissanclub.com

What did you do to your 4th gen altima today?

Let's post here on a daily basis and share our mods and maintenance stories. www.nissanclub.com www.nissanclub.com #4 · Mar 31, 2020 YES, you always remove ALL plugs, there is a reason for it. Some engines will wildly vary the numbers with plugs left in, even one. And readings are worthless if you leave one out. Insert Quotes Post Reply
