I have 2 older models that are prone to the common Ford problem of the shifter levers coming out of the detents on the shift rails. I assumed my problem was due to wear, but everything looks good so it probably is a weak spring. When either comes out of the detents it can kick out of gear. The difference is you have to remove the top cover and adjust the shift rails so every thing works again. It is a real simple job. However, once the lever is out of the detents, the shifter acts like it works okay, but you cannot move the rails to the correct gears, It stays in the last gear that was used. That does not sound like your problem. If I read correctly, you can still change gears after it jumps out of gear. It sounds like you are not getting full engagement of the gears. When you speed up, if you only have partial contact with the gears and they are simply popping out of the gear position. You need to pop the top tranny cover and observe the gear engagement to determine if you are getting only partial gear contact. The gears should be fully engaged in each gear position. You need to have a shop manual in hand when you are testing engagement. You could have worn gears or shims in the gearbox not giving the proper alignment. In either case, you need to physically confirm what is happening. Once you determine what is happening, we can give advice on the repair. I am afraid you will have to split the tractor and do and overhaul in either case. Not very good news. Check your shop manual to see if your tranny has syncro clutches. Mine do not. You have to be at a complete stop to engage any gear set. The alignment is set by shims on each gear set. #5 · Nov 6, 2020 I'm not sure what issue you are having or what model NH you have, is it a T7.260 with the 18 speed power shift transmission? Is it showing any fault codes DTC's. You will need a service manual to trouble shoot these systems. #6 · Nov 6, 2020 Yes it’s the 18 speed power shift I think it’s called power command no fault code CP comes on the display and it kicks down to eight gear and will run there no problem #11 · Sep 9, 2024 What fixed t7 from jumping out of gear showing cp ? 0 Reply #7 · Nov 6, 2020 If you select a gear above 9th while stopped 11th or 12th with the clutch pedal depressed can you start out skipping the midrange gears? I could be completly off base but I'm thinking that it is similar to the older IH Magnums with the power shift 18 speed actually being a 3 range 6 speed transmission and if a range shift solenoid was acting up that range wouldn't work. If it was the 16 speed that is a 4 speed with 4 ranges. #8 · Nov 6, 2020 A 2325 code is showing up pre tractor starting this tractor has only 3300 hours #9 · Nov 6, 2020 This site has a lot of codes listed; https://valley-implement.com/error-codes/ I didn't see a 2325 code listed but several 23-- codes are in the transmission #10 · Nov 8, 2020 So I’m thinking it might be a solenoid where are they and how do I change them and can I swap them around?
