The science behind finding new components and extracts that can change the experience of consuming cannabis and hemp-derived products is quite fascinating, sometimes even explosive.

No, literally, if it’s done carelessly, then it can go wrong really fast.

What Is HHC?

HHC is a new legal category of cannabinoid that is hemp-derived, and thanks to the passing of the 2018 Farm Bill in the U.S., it can be produced as an alternative to Delta 9.

Chemist Roger Adams first discovered it in 1944; he added hydrogen molecules to Delta 9 THC. This process is known as hydrogenation, and although it seems simple enough, we warn that it’s a quite dangerous endeavor (which is why many brands haven’t delved into HHC production, amongst other reasons).

It’s neither as popular nor as common as incorporating Deltas or regular cannabinoids into vaping cartridges, edibles, etc.

There is still much unknown about this hexaydrocannabinol. Still, the rumors and some experiences state that it gives a similar euphoric high as THC, without impacting or staying in your system as long or as noticeably in, say, a drug test.

Now, the similarities in letters with HHC and HHC-O are… well, because they’re essentially the same. The last letter represents an acetate added to the hemp-derived hexaydrocannabinol, which makes the effects of this one stronger than its predecessor.

Much like HHC, there is even less research on this one, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t enough to ensure it is safe for consumption.

The key is looking into brands specifically, so you can know the type of testing and other safety requirements they have in place to guarantee the highest quality products.

Potency

HHC-O is definitely stronger than HHC. It’s even known as “super HHC.” This compound is meant to be even stronger than Delta 9, so be mindful of your use if you aren’t as used to the psychoactive effects on your person.
