HK 940) - right receiver (nothing) - left barrel (.30-06 “Eagle” over “N” date code “antler”) Tony #4 · Jan 3, 2020 Congratulations. You have a great sporting rifle. As previously stated, it was made in 1982. Get an HK05 scope mount for it and you are set!! #5 · Jan 4, 2020 thanks for the help everyone,, looke as if it hasent been fired in a long time and the action is very stiff!! been playing with it trying to get it to loosen up #6 · Jan 4, 2020 The hk940's are great sporting rifles. It also comes in caliber 7x64 Brenneke, those are harder to find and usually come at a premium price. #7 · Jan 4, 2020 Since it is hard to cock, I recommend taking it apart and field stripping it. That includes totally taking the bolt head apart from the carrier, locking piece and fire pin. LUBE IT, as if it is hard to cock and you break the cocking lever, you are in deep crap, as the part is no longer available. That is the weakest link in the HK sporting rifles and the SL6/SL7. Other than that, they are great rifles. #8 · Jan 5, 2020 been trying to find a video on stripping one down but haven't came across a good one yet. seems that most of the issue in the initial break open where you fold the cocking lever back. #10 · Jan 5, 2020 I believe that this is a somewhat similar takedown (HK SL7):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iXQIqYPnYg Tony 1 Reply #9 · Jan 5, 2020 would be nice to have one im sure #12 · Jan 7, 2020 Easiest way to field strip is use a metric allen wrench and unscrew the spindle bolt on the rear of receiver. Be careful not to loose or strip it as they are impossible to find. Once the spindle bolt is out, the receiver will slide off. At the rear of the receiver is the buffer. Remove the buffer and the retaining clamp for the buffer. Once the buffer is removed, use a long flat blade screw driver and push in the knob at the rear of the bolt carrier. I think it is the firing pin button(can't recall). When you depress this knob on the carrier, the carrier along with the bolt head will come out. You can then take this apart and clean it. Once you have done this a couple of times, it is easy, but th first time can be a challenge. Insert Quotes Post Reply
