Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is a US non-governmental organization that has been operating in Vietnam for 20 years. CRS projects assist local counterparts to build capacity in the areas of Education, HIV/AIDS care and treatment, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and emergency preparedness and response. Reflecting our commitment to carry out quality programming to benefit the poor, we are now seeking a dynamic Vietnamese candidate for following position for our Program based in Hanoi:

Job Title: Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation Intern (DRR/CCA Intern)

Department/Location: DRR/CCA Program

Location: Hanoi

Reports To: DRR/CCA Program Manager

Background:

Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Vietnam program, is supporting the community driven DRR plan and its implementation to increase the resilience of disaster-prone central coastal communities to natural hazards via projects “Building Resilience to Natural Hazards in Central Vietnam” and “Building Resilience to disaster and climate risks in urban Mekong River Delta communities”. The projects aim to develop the disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA) capacity of a range of stakeholders through a sustainable partnership to enhance safer and resilient communities in Quang Nam and Tien Giang provinces of Vietnam.

Specific Job Responsibility:

• Support project team in maintaining and updating the project database including beneficiary tracking record
• Support project team in organizing trainings, workshops and events under the supervision of CRS staff
• Participate in surveys and interviews if required
• Translate documents from Vietnamese to English and vice versa
• Provide interpretation for non-Vietnamese CRS staff and international consultant at informal meetings and events
• Edit and organize English and Vietnamese documents under the supervision of CRS staff
• Support project team in finance advance and liquidation requests
• Other: other tasks as necessary, program activities/projects as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications and Personal Skills:

• University degree in foreign language, social sciences, or related discipline
• Knowledge in the field of programs, issues and policies related to DRR/CC and Emergency Response in Vietnam is preferred.
• Good organizational and computer skills (Word, Excel, Power-point, E-mail and Internet - required).
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Vietnamese required.
• Able to travel to program/project areas when required.
