Our Approach

Workplace Health and Safety

Our workers, building trades, contractors, and operating companies all contribute to an exceptional safety culture in the Sarnia-Lambton area. A culture based on respect, trust, and teamwork underlines the primary goal of every day: an injury- and illness-free workplace. This approach has led to decreased incident frequency and severity toward world-class occupational health and safety performance, continuously improving since 1996.

Workplace Health & Safety

Environment and Science

In 1952, Sarnia-Lambton became home to the first industry-funded cooperative in Canada devoted strictly to environmental protection. Our industries engage openly with our community, regulatory organizations, and First Nations partners to create dialogue, respond to questions, and share near real-time monitoring information. This approach reinforces a commitment to openness, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Emergency Preparedness

Learnings from an industrial explosion in 1951 in Sarnia-Lambton led to the formalized bridging of industrial and municipal response teams across the region. Our approach requires the industry to build trust with neighbours through community awareness initiatives and to continuously improve emergency response processes. The result of this work over the past 70 years has led to our best management practices being incorporated into emergency program standards referenced world-wide.
