Baby M3 B Has anyone ever had a run in with one of these bad boys? I was driving my 08' M5 when a white C63 four door came up alongside me on the freeway. It had a fixed camera on the roof and looked like it's filming something.

Anyway, we followed each other for a while on the 10 W. and then 605 S. FWY. At one point traffic cleared up and we both went at it. Neither one of us really put any distance on one another and it didn't take too long before we were going way too fast and had to slow down for traffic ahead of us. It really wasn't much of a race, as I don't think the C63 was trying its hardest. With wifey in the passenger seat, I didn't really gun it either. But it was cool nevertheless because the C63 seemed like a beast in its own way. Not sure what would've happened if we really both ******* on the gas pedal but I am sure it'll be heck of an interesting run.

I usually don't run into AMGs that want to play. Maybe the Dinan badge does speak some volume. LOL j/k!

The guy was a good sport though. He rolled down the window afterwards to acknowledge the run.

Well maintained and driven M5, will beat a C63. #4 · Apr 8, 2013 They lose steam past 80+mph. They are a bullet low speeds with the mountains of torque they have. The guys in my family have the best of both worlds, my father has the S65 AMG with the eurocharged tune. 670hp and 822 ft pounds of torque. Thing is stupid fast. I do sometimes think of myself venturing off the dark side of AMG but I can't help but think of how it would be without a V10. I have a 2008 M5. Naturally, we would always want to settle the dispute on which car was faster on the drag strip. Irwindale drag strip was the only local strip @ 1/8 mile long. AMG with carbon filter delete vs M5 RPI scoops + block off plates with BMS filters and carbon delete = Neck in neck results. Basically whoever had the best 60ft time won but I could feel my beast reeling in the gap at 80+ and I would always feel confident that if there was more drag strip that I would put at least half-full car length well into the 100s mph or at least close the gap between us if he had the jump. Again this isn't stock vs stock but the verdict is that both cars are more or less equal on the strip but when we switch rides for the drive home, the AMG feels bland and my brother wants more time with the M. #10 · Apr 8, 2013 (Edited) the c63 is detuned from the factory. so if both cars run on a tune. the c63 will rape us. but the m5 got more class and its way more fun to drive. we should be comparing with the e63. #11 · Apr 9, 2013 From a dig stock for stock the c63 sedan will keep up with us but from a roll no chance at all, The E90 M3 is a competitor for its class not an e60 M5 , no chance at all. #12 · Apr 9, 2013 Renntech C63 is an animal. Most of the answers correlate to the result of my run-in with the C63 that day: I had actually begun to reel in on him (he was about a car length ahead of me when he took off) as the speed climbed but since I really wasn't trying my hardest to catch him, I thought he wasn't fully flooring the car, either. Despite the lack of low end torque, the M5 felt absolutely insane at high speeds.
