How To Convert Compressed Air Consumption From Nl/minute To Nm3 ...

Compressed air consumption is often presented on pneumatic products. The consumption information should make it easier to compare products and identify the most efficient solution for a particular user’s need.

Compressed air volume can be measured in different units. Within pneumatics, the volume is either presented in normal liters (Nl) or normal cubic meters (Nm3).* Compressed air consumption for products is often written in normal liters per minute or normal cubic meters an hour. It can be difficult to compare products if the compressed air consumption is written in different units. This guide should make it easier to convert compressed air consumptions between the both units.

* Normal means that the result applies a specific atmosphere pressure and a specific temperature.

Nl/min x 60 / 1000 = Nm3/h

Nm3/h / 60 x 1000 = Nl/min

Example:

1. Nl/min → Nm3/h

The product consumes 500 normal liters of compressed air per minute. How many normal cubic meters of compressed air is this per hour?

500 Nl /minute compressed air x 60 / 1000 = 30 Nm3/hour compressed air

2. Nm3/h → Nl/min

The product consumes 30 normal cubic meters compressed air per hour. How many normal liters of compressed air is this per minute?

30 Nm3/hour compressed air / 60 x 1000 = 500 Nl/minutes compressed air

Compressed air consumption can be used to determine compressed air costs, and return on investment savings when installing an efficient air nozzle.
