How to create an adult account for PlayStation 

Find out how to set up an account for PlayStation.

You need an account to use PlayStation services. It's free to create an account and you don't need to provide any payment details. 

Information needed to create an account

• Date of birth This is required for security measures. Make sure to enter your date of birth correctly. This can't be changed later. 
• Country or region Make sure you add the correct country/region when creating an account. Registering your account with your country/region ensures better support and access to services, such as making purchases or downloading new content. Once created, your country/region cannot be changed.
• Preferred languageThis is the language displayed in PlayStation™Store and on certain screens, as well as the language displayed in emails you receive from PlayStation. 
• Sign-in ID (email address)To sign in, you need to check the confirmation email you received. You'll also receive important information and use this email address for password recovery. Enter an email address that you can access and receive emails. 
• Password Choose a secure password that no one can easily guess and update it regularly. Be sure not to forget it and record it somewhere safe. 
• Online ID and name Your real name is displayed to your close friends. You can also edit your privacy settings to control what is visible publicly.

How to set up an account online

1. Go to Account Management and select Create New Account.

2. Enter your details and preferences and select Next on each screen.

3. Verify your email address. Check your email for a verification message. Follow the instructions in the message to verify your email address.

PS5 console: Set up an account

If you already have an account on your PS4 console, you can use the same account for your PS5 console. You can have your Playstation®Plus subscription, trophies, friends, and other information on your PS5 console, while still having them on your PS4 console.

1. Go to the home screen and select the profile picture.

2. Select Switch User > Add User > Get Started.

3. Select Create an Account from the sign-in screen.

4. Enter the necessary information.

5. Verify your email address. Check your email for a verification message. Follow the instructions in the message to verify your email address.

The next time you need to sign in, enter your sign-in ID (email address) and password. You can sign in faster when you use PlayStation App.

PS4 console: Set up an account

1. Press and hold the PS button to reveal the quick menu.

2. Select Power > Switch User > New User > Create a User.

3. Follow the on-screen prompts to create the account. 

4. Enter the necessary information.

5. Verify your email address. Check your email for a verification message. Follow the instructions in the message to verify your email address.
