Bus

Dan Sai does not have a true bus station. Instead, regular buses stop at a yellow-roofed bus stop on Route 2013, just west of Kaeo Asa Road and near an archway with pictures of Thai royalty that spans the highway. Regular buses plying the route between Loei and Phitsanulok, including some that carry on to Chiang Mai in one direction and Udon Thani in the other, stop in Dan Sai at least every two hours during the day. There is also a direct bus between Dan Sai and Phitsanulok that picks up every two to three hours from late morning to late afternoon. If you need to reach the Northern, Central or Southern regions, transfer in Phitsanulok. If heading to the Northeast, transfer in Loei. Either place will have plenty of buses to Bangkok, though going through Phitsanulok would be quicker. There are also minibuses running direct between Dan Sai and Loei at least every two hours, picking up at a separate bus stop near Tesaban Market and the police station, a bit north up Kaeo Asa Road.

Getting around

The town is small enough to walk everywhere. Otherwise, catch one of the tuk tuks that ply the streets.

Air

The closest airport is in Loei town, 80 km to the east, which is serviced by at least one daily flight with Nok Air. You could also fly into the larger Phitsanulok airport, 140 km to the west.
