G9 Chord Guitar Instructions

To play the G9 chord on your guitar, picture the G9 chord chart shown to the leftabove as your fret board and neck (if you were to stand your guitar up vertically).

The horizontal lines represent the fret bars, the vertical lines show the strings and the dots show where to place your fingers.

Play the G9 chord by placing your fingers exactly where the diagram shows and strumming the correct strings.

G9 Guitar Chord Finger Positions

Here's where you need to position your fingers when playing the G9 chord:

1. Tune your guitar Tune your guitar to standard tuning of EADGBe
2. Index finger: barre 3rd fret. Use your index finger to barre the 3rd fret.
3. Middle finger: 4th fret, 3rd string. Place your middle finger on the 4th fret of the 3rd string.
4. Ring finger: 5th fret, 5th string. Place your ring finger on the 5th fret of the 5th string.
5. Pinky finger: 5th fret, 1st string. Place your pinky finger on the 5th fret of the 1st string.
6. Play chord. Strum all strings.
