nicholasrandall26 N i have a 2008 volvo s40 2.4i and i really want to remove the grill to customize it. how difficult is it to remove, and how do i go about removing it. also, i have a mustang, and they "haynes" made a complete tear down and rebuild of my mustang. does anybody make something like that for my volvo? any info would help. #1 · Dec 14, 2008 i have a 2008 volvo s40 2.4i and i really want to remove the grill to customize it. how difficult is it to remove, and how do i go about removing it. also, i have a mustang, and they "haynes" made a complete tear down and rebuild of my mustang. does anybody make something like that for my volvo? any info would help. No haynes manual that I know of. I think there is a CD made by volvo for techs. #3 · Dec 14, 2008 Re: (Silver T5) thanx man. i have just bought my first volvo and im super excited. i have used other forums, but this is by far the best one. extremely fast responses. thanx for taking the time to answer me. #4 · Dec 14, 2008 I used a putty knife, and a screwdriver. You basicall have to unclip it from the bumper. I used the putty knife to get in there carefully, twisted it a bit to separate the clips, and then stuck the screwdriver in there so that the grill couldn't clip itself back together. Be careful not to scratch any paint or chrome. It's much easier to figure out what the hell you are doing if you have another grill to look at. I'm sure you can find pics online of one to see where the clips are. Good luck. #5 · Dec 14, 2008 Re: (mofolicious) As Silver said, just stick your fingers in the eggcrate, grab a hand full and give it a swift yank. One thing that helped was a liberal dose of silicone spray, with the straw nozzle, before you start. Spray around the inside edge of the grill and between the paint and the outer grill chrome. Hopefully some will get on the retaining tabs. I sprayed the tabs that hold it in before reassembly (in case I need to do more mods) and now it comes out with one hand! Have fun. #6 · Dec 14, 2008 one way to try is the way I did it... just get the flattest and widest thing you can find. I used a really thin spatula. All it takes is a gentle prying motion and it just pops out. Insert Quotes Post Reply
