Sort by Oldest first Oldest first Newest first Most reactions #2 · Apr 3, 2012 If I remember correctly... 3 or 4 screws on top of the grill need to be taken out then just pull the grill forward and slightly down and it should come straight out. #3 · Apr 3, 2012 I took the screws on top and couldn't get it off  It looks like there are clips on the bottom but I really couldn't get it loose :banghead: So I should pull the grill towards my self and down at the same time??? #4 · Apr 6, 2012 Sorry for the late reply.. just got my car back yesterday... Okay so here's a quick right up on how to remove the front grill... firstly, remove the 3 screws on top that hold the grill in place Image Now loosen, no need to remove, the 4 screws that help keep the top tabs in place Image Image Place both hands on the bottom of the grill and pull using your fingers, while using your palms to push against the bumper... This will require a bit of force but pull slowly and you will fell the grill become loose as it comes out Image Image Once the grill is almost out, you will be stuck on the hood release... Image Just push it down and make sure the top tabs are clear and pull the grill out Image These are the top tabs.. very thin plastic so try not to bend them too much as they will break Image These are the bottom tabs and they really hold down the grill Image 6 bottom tabs which all fit in these slots in the bumper Image Now putting the grill back on.... start by positioning the hood release in the section that is at the furthest back in the cutout for it Image then work on the lower tabs.. make sure they are lined up correctly and slowly push in, making sure the grill in centered and aligned correctly.... the is how it looks when the lower tabs do not go into their slots Image Once the lower tabs look like they are in the correct position... make sure the top tabs are correctly positioned and are going under the plastic housing / cover... best way to make sure your grill is aligned is to match it up with the 3 screw holes on top Image If all the tabs looked positioned correctly, carry on pushing the grill into place.. applying more pressure if needed for it to lock in to position and look at the bottom of the grill to make sure it is flush with the bumper to look like this Image If the grill has one tab that is not in, simply pull it out and reposition it correctly.. hope this helps :):beer: #5 · Apr 6, 2012 THANK YOU SO MUCH, THIS WILL HELP!!! Thanks in advance. #8 · Jul 27, 2013 Useful write up Thanks for a complete guide bubz 0429! It really helped me in taking the grille off. In my case, I could remove the grille without loosening the 4 additional screews. Cheers #9 · Sep 4, 2013 I have had 3 people besides myself try to remove this grill and it has not budged. I have removed the three screws and the 4 bolts completely. The top portion is fine, the bottom does not budge. We even had 2 of us try at the same time to get the bottoms out and still nothing. Could I be missing something here? We did follow your guide completely and still no budging on the bottom portion of the grill. frustrated. #10 · Sep 4, 2013 You need to pull pretty firmly from the bottom straight out. The first time is the most difficult. Instead of inserting your hand like the picture above shows, insert both hands on each side of the middle-bottom opening with your fingers upward, so you can grab the next-to-bottom horizontal bar to give you something to yank on while pulling. Grip it and give it a firm tug out. You should hear all the clips releasing. 0 Reply #11 · Sep 4, 2013 Norm...I did that and it worked. I ended up cutting open my finger doing it the other way. It was a pain in the arse. But now it is off. I am going to install my headlights. :) #12 · Sep 11, 2013 Thanks for such a detailed write up. I'm going to install my badgeless grill today. #13 · Sep 11, 2013 Lovely! Post pictures of the completion, not many custom grilles out there... :) 0 Reply #14 · Aug 11, 2016 Front Bumper 2014 Passat Removing the front bumper was as easily as described by bubz0429 for my 2014 Passat #15 · Aug 11, 2016 Front Bumper 2014 Passat Removing the front grill was as easily as described by bubz0429 for my 2014 Passat #16 · Nov 12, 2016 2013 vw cc I can confirm most of these steps for VW CC 2013. Removing the grill are the same steps. I pushed down on the top corners of the grill and pulled straight towards the front and the grill came out. You can't be scared to pull, just start from a corner. To remove the headlight the bumper does not need to come off but they are 4 screws that need to be removed to create enough slack to move the tabs on the headlight out of the way of the bumper. 3 of the screws are the 3 in the wheel well close the bumper. Pull back the cover just enough to unscrew the 4 screw connecting the bumper to the fender. Then 3 bolts connecting the headlight. You should able to easily see 2 of them, the 3rd one is under the headlight you will need to manipulate the bumper to unscrew it. A 10mm socket & extension does the trick. Good Luck. I'm going to take pictures but I can't uploaded them to this sight. PM your email or post it here and I can share. This is for 2013 - current model CC. #17 · Nov 12, 2016

Good info, but you'd want to post it here instead: http://forums.vwvortex.com/forumdisplay.php?1062-CC 0 Reply #18 · Apr 8, 2019 stilll cant get it off tried to remove the grill using the photo method and then the alternate method that another user used by grabbing the grill with fingers pointing up. Still no go. I am a big guy who is pretty strong. Not a budge. Is there a way I should be pulling? Upward? Jiggle sideways? Can I use a screwdriver or pry bar under the grill without damaging the clip holes? Help ! #19 · Apr 8, 2019 Yeah, when I had mine and needed to take the grill off, after removing the clips/screws I lifted it strait up then out towards me. It worked but sustained a minor casualty. Cracked one of the vanes. #20 · Sep 14, 2020 Thank you for taking the time to post this.. great job !!!!! This really helped me out, just wanted to say thank you ! Insert Quotes Post Reply
