HP Recommended Product: HP Gaming Pavilion – 15-cx0017 CTO Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey!

Around a month ago my HP Gaming Pavilion – 15-cx0017 CTO started to make weird noises, its really load all the time and the sound both come from the fan and inside of the computer. Its quite weird cause even tho my CPU is running at around 2-5% the fan is running at a high speed and makes a noisy sound (the computer isnt hot when this occurs). I guess that the high speed of the fan is cause of dust inside of the computer, but I feel like this is quite weird cause I have only had the computer for 1 and a half month, so this problem started only 2 weeks after I got it. The sound inside probably come from some internal problem, what could this be? I cant really describe the sound but it does not sound well.

I have tried some compressed air spray to try to remove some dust, without any major sucess. (I have not opened the computer and tried to remove the dust that way, the reason for this is that im scared that I will screw something up and I have heard that the waranty disapperas if you do that).

My question is: How can I fix this? Does the waranty cover this? Who should I reach out to, HP or "some local computer fixer"? Is the computer naturally loud? Should I be worried about the weird internal noise?

Excuse me for my rusty english

All answers would be helpful

Thanks

//Tingen

@Tingen

Welcome to our humble abode, the family and tech-friendly house of HP Forums!

I'll be your host for the day, they call me the Riddle_Decipher.

When was the last time it worked without these issues?

Any recent hardware or software changes made to your PC?

The best way to show me how it sounds is to record it on your phone and attach the video (with audio) via youtube or other online sources.

To resolve issues such as Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly:

  • Updating your Notebook computer BIOS
  • Keeping notebook air vents clear and clean
  • Increasing the efficiency of the notebook to reduce heat
  • Using Windows Task Manager to identify corrupt processes
  • Selecting power save settings to shut off your computer when it is not in use

CLICK HERE FOR MORE STEPS AND INSTRUCTIONS.

(The above steps are covered by HP warranty, if you have any issues, just write back to me)

Let me know how that pans out

I will have a colleague follow-up on this to ensure it's taken care off, in case you don't respond in the next 24-48hrs,

As I need to know if the issue has been resolved, to get proper sleep at night.

Feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon,

Followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution' as it would help the community gain more knowledge and have a great day Ahead!

Hi! Thanks for the respons, I tried your solutions with the following results:

"When was the last time it worked without these issues?" Like 1 and a half month ago. I have been bothered by this for a while.

"Any recent hardware or software changes made to your PC? " None that I could think of. The problem did not start right after I downloaded any software, and I have not dropped the hardware or anything like that.

"The best way to show me how it sounds is to record it on your phone and attach the video (with audio) via youtube or other online sources." Im linking a noise recording of what it sounds like. I would say this is a fairly good reprensatation of what it sounds like (the "dunking" noise you can hear every 3 seconds or so in the recording is what im mostly worried about, and the computer is making that noise every second in real life):

"To resolve issues such as Fan is Noisy and Spins Constantly:"I have tried these without any major success . I think that the loud sound might be because of the sound from the computer, cause my fan isn't spinning fast even tho the sound is loud.

Best regards

Tingen

@Tingen,

It looks like you were interacting with @Riddle_Decipher, but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out, I'm the Jeet_Singh & I'm at your service.

After reviewing your post thoroughly, I see that you are still having issues with the laptop making a loud noise.

In this scenario, I would like to check if you have tried to update the Bios and Chipset drivers either from our HP support website or using HP support Assistant.

If you haven't tried it yet, I would suggest here is to go ahead and update the Bios as this helps in resolving most of the issues.

If you have already tried it yet and still having the issue, I would suggest you try to run an extensive system diagnostics test from F2(Please remember to capture the failure ID for further assistance).

Let me know how it goes for further assistance!

Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. 🙂 Regards,

Hey!

So I have updated my BIOS and the Chipshet drivers. I am hearing an small improvement, the noise dosent sound so "destructive" anymore. I also ran the fast and extensive test and my computer passed all the tests.

Im still hearing a loud noise though, which im unsure of what it is. My theory is that the fans are touching something inside of the computer, what can I do about this? How should I proceed to fix this? If this isnt the case, what else could it be and what can I do about it?

Regards,

Tingen

@Tingen,

Thank you for replying,

As I understand you have run the test and everything seems to have passed successfully, this indicates a possible software related issue.

In this scenario, I would suggest here is to reset the computer.

For more details on how to reset the computer on HP PC - HP PCs - How to Reset Your Computer to Factory Settings (Windows 10, 8, 7)

Hope this answers your question.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
