Background

The HP Pavilion is a line of computers produced by HP or Hewlett-Packard, an American multinational information technology company based in Palo Alto, CA. They were first introduced in 1995 primarily as a home and home office use computer. There are both laptop and desktop versions of HP Pavilions.

The original HP Pavilion released was actually the second desktop HP ever released by the company. The first was called the HP Multimedia PC. The first Pavilion featured quad-speed CD-ROM drive, Altec Lansing speakers, software for online service access and Microsoft Windows 95, 75 MHz Intel Pentium processor, 8 MB RAM and an 850 MB hard drive.

The HP Pavilion laptops were customizable in the US only and have different models and configurations in other countries.

Identification

There are many HP Pavilion laptop configurations, but these configurations generally maintain standard laptop form factor. HP Pavilion laptops are standard consumer laptops that typically consist of a plastic or aluminum case, a 10" to 17" screen, standard input-output ports, and a mini or full-size keyboard.

In addition to the standard "HP" logo on the top case, most HP Pavilion laptops typically have "Pavilion" stamped on either the palm rest or screen bezel. The specific Pavilion model number is typically stamped on the bottom of the laptop. Visit HP's support site for additional help with identifying your Pavilion laptop.
