The successor of ProBook 450 G6 is almost here – HP ProBook 450 G7 (2020) is a refreshed device with new hardware to match the 2020 standards. We have detailed info about this device and we will compare it with last year’s G6 model. Design:

As you can see, there aren’t big changes design-wise. The design is clean, unobtrusive, and looks up to date. The dark keycaps contrast well with the light color scheme of the body. HP retained the same profile thickness and the same weight – 19mm and 2 kg.

Display: 1080 IPS panel and the HD+ display on board

HP has decided to keep the HD+ TN panel but don’t worry, there’s also a 1080p IPS display which has much better viewing angles and rich colors. We are pretty sure that most of the buyers will configure their devices with the IPS one. We can hope that the new IPS screen will offer better color coverage because the 2019 IPS panel covers just 53% of the sRGB color gamut. There is an optional IPS touchscreen panel for the ones who prefer to use their fingers instead of a mouse.

Hardware: Comet Lake inside and NVMe SSDs

The HP ProBook 450 G7 relies on the 10th gen Intel Comet lake CPUs. Unfortunately, there isn’t a 6-core CPU option but the i7-10510U is a snappy CPU with 8 threads so, CPU-wise things look good. The Comet Lake CPUs are fast and efficient, the 2019 model is cool and quiet under load and with the new-gen processors under the hood, you can expect the same from the G7 variant. If the integrated UHD Graphics isn’t enough for you there are two optional dedicated GPUs from NVIDIA – MX250 and MX 230 with 2GB GDDR5 memory.

The device has an M.2 NVMe port as well as a “normal” 2.5″ port for SATA HDDs. The 2020 variant can be upgraded with up to 32GB DDR4 2666MHz memory.

Connectivity and ports: USB Type-C and Wi-Fi 6

The port selection looks standard – two USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type A), a USB 3.1 Gen 1 (Type C) one USB 2.0, an RJ-45 port, one combo audio jack, and an HDMI 1.4b.

For connectivity, there is a built-in Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Other specs: optional IR camera and backlit keyboard

The keyboard of the G7 model is spill-resistant and if you use your device at night it’s good to have a look at the optional backlit variant. There is an IR camera too (option).
