They look pretty similar except that the HQ has two doors and the A&E has only one door, in front. Any other differences? Im thinking that the one door may make it difficult to reach in and hang toys from the top...is that true? But the two doors could be a pain, switching back and forth between them when you reach in to take your bird out, if the bird is moving around. Thoughts? thanks... Im thinking of upgrading my tiels cage. They are currently in this, but Im wondering if maybe they need something a little bit bigger...? Judi N

The wheels are larger to support the weight of the cage on A&E cages. My HQ double macaw cage rests on its legs not its wheels because of the tiny wheels not supporting the weight. The locking on the new A&E cages food dish doors I really like, not sure if HQ has that or not. But it prevents big birds from escaping out of their food dish doors! Love it :) Overall, the new design of A&E larger parrot cages is much better IME, than the HQ. I have the A&E flight cage too and its nice, but its very similar to the HQ flight cage. So I think for smaller bird cages like Flight cages, either company is fine. and :m2: (Beeba) JudiNH

It is this one, but in a sandstone powder coat: A&E Split Level 42 x26 w/Divider *Stainless Steel* - PLAYTOP CAGES by MY SAFE BIRD STORE Oscar's in a 5 year old HQ 24x24. Oscar can escape out the breeder box door unless it is closed with a chain. The wheels cannot roll, they just drag (???). The powder coat is very thick, but it is overly textured and difficult to clean (not like the perfectly smooth texture of an Avian Adventures powder coat). There's also little bars unwelded (not snapped, they were never welded there by design) between the grate and bottom tray that poke me whenever I clean. This is an older cage and these design flaws may have been corrected with new cages. Not a fair comparison between that and a new cage, but I do prefer the A&E we have over the HQ we have. SkyBaby

Avenue Veteran Joined 11/17/09 Messages 569 Location Tehachapi, CA Real Name Kira I have the HQ 13221 flight cage. My ringies can escape out of the breeder doors as those are not locking. I keep them closed with ss quick links attached on the outside. Very small issue IMO, once it's resolved with a couple SS quicklinks, you're pretty much good to go. I really like the cage over all. It's easy to clean, high quality and feels sturdy, plus the price is right. Nice big, sturdy, high quality cage for $130 (when I bought mine 4 years ago. It's more than that now, but cheaper than most other cages). I don't see how 1 big door would work for me and my guys. 2 smaller ones are really much easier. I don't have any experience with the AE version. andor

The "floating pokies of death" are still there underneath the seed guards. JudiNH

It is 30x18x24. So, I wouldnt gain much in width, slightly more in depth, but a lot more in height. But, do they really need that much height? They seem to hang out at the top all the time anyway. Im thinking maybe I will just stick with what I have for now. Not a super high quality cage, but for tiels who are gentle and non destructive, its probably fine. Thanks for the input everyone. :)

It won't be a problem if you use the grate & tray in that particular model. You can't put the tray on the grate holder, though (just wont fit) so I worry about a bird getting to the lower "compartment". I'll take a pic when I get home.

It's difficult to explain, but the way the bars are welded to the frame is much easier to clean on the HQ. MY A&E double flight is always getting poop stuck in the crevices and it's nearly impossible to clean. My birds prefer the double doors on the HQ, as do I. | Sampson :blinnie:| Dorian:glinnie: | Cian:cinnamongcc1: | Pekoe :budgie8: | Coco :bfa: | Captain:blucc: | Freyja & Pippin:ycanary: Missing you always . . . Is anyone able to post pictures of the feeder doors and/or breeder doors (do they have feeder doors? I'm not certain about this)? Any other pictures that might be good for comparison would really be appreciated. At first I was pretty set on the AE flight cage, but now I'm not so sure  :bpflb::ypflb::sglb:fidsmom

The cages are 32 wide X62 highx 22 depth. I like for my fids to have alot of space in their cages, for perches and plenty of toys. :quaker::quaker::quaker: :quaker: :quaker: :quaker: :quaker: :rflb: :senegal: suileeka

I will note that I have to zip tie them shut on the A&E cage, because they are so loose they won't stay shut otherwise, and don't have to with the HQ cages.
