Are the MQ processors better due to being able to be removed due to being socketed instead of soldered like the HQ's? I want my laptop to last ~4-6 years, with upgrades, like the cpu.

If you want upgradeability, a laptop is not for you.

The MQ processors are generally cheaper and slightly faster than the HQ processors, whereas the HQ processors have better integrated graphics. So if there's a dedicated graphics card, MQ is usually a better choice.

My understanding is that you're usually only able to upgrade a laptop's CPU within a generation (aka no putting a mobile ivy bridge CPU to replace a mobile sandy bridge CPU) so it's not quite like desktops. I'm not 100% on that though, it's just what I've been told about people more knowledgeable than I.

Even laptops have motherboard and i strongly believe @Scionyde is right. Upgrading a cpu in notebook would only make sense if u bought low end cpu i3/i5 and upgraded to i7 within the same generation few years later but if u fuck up your notebook is a trash :D

U are far better of buying the high end notebook now for $2000+ if u want to use it 4 years from now.

    ,

Building a pc is easier and wouldnt require u to upgrade cpu/mobo if u went for very high end qqone. Just saying.

However, 6 years is long ass time and nowadays technology might be absolute by then, who knows what happens by 2020 :).
