View Full Version : HSV Appreciation Pack - Your Thoughts?

jai04-12-2008, 07:43 PMWell Ive gotta say, Im thrilled with my HSV Appreciation Pack. The best AUD$17.23 Holden could have spent in Guangonza Province in China to say thanks for spending $80k with them. Where have the days of something useful gone? Man, surely a Jacket, or Tshit or HRT stuff would not break the bank. How many of us are going to add the pen to the collection in a jar on the kitchen bench? The USB memory key looks good, but is absolutely useless with only 256MB storage on it! Cant even store a single episode of Top Gear on it. What about the desk clock? My god, that is pathetic. I thought I was in for a real treat looking at the boxes it all came in but man, what a let down! The Hat is ok, but I have 100 hats, just like i do keyrings, pens, memory sticks, and other novelty showbag items. JK Mungrel04-12-2008, 07:50 PM:lol: so what??? Spend 80K, get an HSV car, you've gotten what you paid for. Deal complete. Anything extra is a bonus. Never look a gift horse in the mouth... C4B04-12-2008, 07:59 PMWow, things have certainly changed since the VT-VX-VY days. Don't get me wrong, the stuff you got back then didn't include Tag Heuer watches and gold plated cuff links, but the compendiums were pretty well done and the tyre pressure gauges, mag lights and swiss army knives were at least of pretty decent quality. Time marches on...... Alex8104-12-2008, 08:06 PMWow how things change, with my VU Maloo i got the HSV golf bag and my VZ Clubbie a good quaility picnic set. Is disappointing if they have gone the cheap and nasty HSV Listy04-12-2008, 08:17 PMI remember i got a golf bag, key ring, a flash steel looking brief case, a nice book with a hole bunch of stuff and info in it, 2 hats with I just got on written on it, T shirts, Jacket and i think that is it. The Hat is ok, but I have 100 hats, just like i do keyrings, pens, memory sticks, and other novelty showbag items. JK Seems like the HSV gifts vary a bit. A couple of months ago with my new HSV I got a bottle of wine with HSV wine accessories, HSV tool kit, HSV golf stuff & couple of HSV "I just got one" caps and various car care items. Seemed to stack pretty well with what I have got in the past. There was also a couple of Murph limited edition items - A HSV/Murph polo shirt bearing the build number of car and a voucher for a couple of hot laps with Murphy. mustanger04-12-2008, 08:53 PM:doh::o Sorry , I thought the title read " HSV Depreciation Pack !" (cause I have one of those) VXSS04-12-2008, 09:08 PMI got what you got. The memory stick I tried to go to myhsv what ever it is from the stick basically your Vin No. plus your full name to log on to find out further details it did not work. Also in the car, the alloy pedals no hsv on them, and the exhaust does not have the hsv logo embossed on there anymore. Some got HSV Tools, Sonax Product, Golf Clubs etc etc Grant04-12-2008, 11:00 PMWell Ive gotta say, Im thrilled with my HSV Appreciation Pack. Ultimately, you're paying for it. Gen3Man04-12-2008, 11:21 PMMy VZ Clubbie - Got a aluminium HSV brief case, Leather Compendium, Leather Wallet, Leather business card holder, leather diary holder, Leather Melways holder, leather something else, a bottle of touch up paint, and some other stuff I can't remember. MY VT R8 - subscription to XCELERATE, and tool kit and hat and I think there was something else. p.s. both cars bought secondhand , was lucky owners passed the stuff onto me. clubbie04-12-2008, 11:31 PMMy VZ Clubbie - Got a aluminium HSV brief case, Leather Compendium, Leather Wallet, Leather business card holder, leather diary holder, Leather Melways holder, leather something else, a bottle of touch up paint, and some other stuff I can't remember. VY was similar and for the optional gift I got the HSV golf bag:lol: O5BRKY05-12-2008, 05:28 AMWhat do expect from Wankenshaw HSV:flipoff: boyley05-12-2008, 05:40 AMI was in the news agents the other day and when I bought a mag the gave me a free HSV:jester: planetdavo05-12-2008, 05:47 AMSo, let me see. People can currently get over $10,000 off the price of a new HSV, yet have an issue with $50 or less worth of "freebies", which, as most people already know, YOU are actually paying for anyway! The more "freebies" included, the more expensive YOU end up paying for the car. I'd personally take the huge discounts myself. :) CSP05-12-2008, 10:31 AMwith my VU Maloo i got the HSV golf bag and my VZ Clubbie a good quaility picnic set Want to sell the picnic set? Curtis-R05-12-2008, 10:56 AMSorry I'm with Jai on this one.. even though I don't have an HSV.. HSV are HUGE in Merchandising... I don't think Jai has an issue with $50 worth of freebies, but more so the quality and useablity of them.. It is very obvious the screws have tightned up a few notches for things like this. Personally I think its embarrasing giving away such crud that really nobody is going to use.. I mean a 256k memory stick.. might look cool but how unpractical! This sort of stuff shold be given away when you buy a barina.. not $80k HSV HSV used to have some really cool stuff and incentives.. factory tours, race/driving days in conjunction with the dealers, nice jackets.. I think it boils down to what you can negotiate in the 'deal' as well. (correct me if i'm wrong) just my two cents. GJ22705-12-2008, 11:38 AMi bought my E series about 15 months ago and got a heap of stuff, a HSV owners Sports bag, Sonax car wash and mag wheel cleaner, golf balls, writting set, 2 offical owners caps, tyre guage, tool kit, key ring, compendium, leather folder with the cars details and HSV owners club subscription, and newsletter subscription, i think was a handful of other things in there as well. better than buying a statesman or Calais, and getting nothing. Gj227 CSP05-12-2008, 11:47 AMSo typical to see Aussies whinging their FREE stuff isn't good enough! It's FREE! Personally, the FREE stuff didn't sway me into a decision to buy a HSV. Ghia35105-12-2008, 12:13 PMI was in the news agents the other day and when I bought a mag the gave me a free HSV:jester:Did they take eftpos or was there a $10 min spend? jai05-12-2008, 03:05 PMi bought my E series about 15 months ago and got a heap of stuff, a HSV owners Sports bag, Sonax car wash and mag wheel cleaner, golf balls, writting set, 2 offical owners caps, tyre guage, tool kit, key ring, compendium, leather folder with the cars details and HSV owners club subscription, and newsletter subscription, i think was a handful of other things in there as well. better than buying a statesman or Calais, and getting nothing. Gj227 I got a Cert of Auth and another sales brochure. I was told there was a HSV Owners Track Day but no mention of that. Its just a let down! What FPV offer is certainly showing appreciation. JK So, let me see. Dont worry mate I paid rrp on my calais (65k) and got an umbrella planetdavo05-12-2008, 04:58 PMThats a very good spiel you got going there. Except I paid $80k 28 days ago. Im not even prepared to comment on the $500 a day depreciation since then. Hardly a "spiel". Anyone that has done their homework already knows that (a) "freebies" are always paid for by the buyer, and (b) depreciation has always been savage right at the start, on ANY car! Sorry to say it, but it's your ego that is clearly bruised on this one. The head would realise what the real deal is. :teach: Perhaps next time you should tell the salesman that you have absolutely no interest in looking at the HSV or test driving it, but if those "free" accessories aren't of A grade quality, they can stick their sale up their @rse!:bow::goodjob: uniesse06-12-2008, 02:07 AMSo, let me see. Shulkor06-12-2008, 05:17 AMYer hat was ok i got a really nice leather organizer business folder i thought that was nice for a freebee. Well Ive gotta say, Im thrilled with my HSV Appreciation Pack. But that's obviously not important mate. It doesn't come with that "free" $100 briefcase or similar "quality" items, and those $100 "freebies" are FAR more important than a $20,000 discount, if only on principal!:eek::dancenana::confused::headbang: :stick::doh::jerk::deal: fx16006-12-2008, 07:12 AMBut that's obviously not important mate. That was very nicely presented in its own box. Cheers Bob NonSense06-12-2008, 03:59 PMYeah its getting tight, not even some free car care products anymore :( Whats funny is when you go look at your W427 getting built and they pull you aside and say here you go mate here is a little thanks from HSV. A W427 Money clip and desk set with a made in china sticker as big as there logo on the back! All i can say my customer and myself had a good laugh about it. babycow06-12-2008, 07:35 PMI'm still waiting for mine. For the VX R8 you had several choices - including a suit bag, wine or a golf bag. I took the bag. I will be interested to see what shows up this time. Fair enough though, although for spending 80k on a car, i would rather everything on it be perfect and just not bother bout a 'free' gift. -GTS-08-12-2008, 11:25 AMWell Ive gotta say, Im thrilled with my HSV Appreciation Pack. I have had my car for 6 months and haven't seen f*&k all. What pisses me off is i asked if i could take the "Appreciation Pack" off the contract when i bought the car and have the overall price reduced - Of course you can't do that. Don't want it now anyway :flipoff: jai08-12-2008, 04:46 PMHaha, sounds like alot of people are expecting something good for free. Fair enough though, although for spending 80k on a car, i would rather everything on it be perfect and just not bother bout a 'free' gift. I actually think the build & QA quality of the HSV parts on the VE is bordering on Korean. The custom made front quarters arent pieced together too well on my car. I can only assume they use a jig to put the new lower piece and upper piece together when they weld it, however both my panels arent perfect. My drivers side has about a 5mm ridge along it becuase the lowerhalf is in closer to the body than the upper half. So I actually get a shaddow in sunlight on that side. The other side is marginally better. The rear tail light arrangement isnt too flash either. The gap between the lamps to the rear quarters is too big - about 12-15mm. I can see black primer paint under my white paint from the side on on both sides. And the plastic surrounds for the lights do not really mate up perfectly to the steel panels. I would have thought this would have been easy to do! I dont know im being pedantic, but you know like you said, its $80k, surely they could just have a little bit more attention to detail. JK exwrx08-12-2008, 05:17 PMPlanetdavo you are IMO deliberately missing the point. Its not the freebies per se that is important here, it is about smart business. Do you think its is wise for HSV to 'surprise' their newest customers with a few 'gifts', thereby building a brand and loyal client base who are possibly more likely to become repeat customers? or is it smarter to leave a bitter aftertaste by stuff either not turning up, or tacky junk not worth the postage. My wife and I bought a cheapish european car earlier this year. Totally unexpectedly we received a 1/18 scale model of the exact car, a canon digital camera, $1K photography vouchers, decent desk set, tickets to the tennis etc etc. I know its all included mate, but it does wonders for creating goodwill towards the brand. Lke it or not, that is HSV's competition. My personal suspicion is that most of these missing freebies are sitting in the sales manager's office :jester: RAWKUS08-12-2008, 10:31 PMPlanetdavo you are IMO deliberately missing the point. Lke it or not, that is HSV's competition. My personal suspicion is that most of these missing freebies are sitting in the sales manager's office :jester: Took the words right out of my mouth. It's about the warm, fuzzy feeling......thereby encouraging repeat business. If they (HSV) are so confident in producing a product that will retain the customer for repeat business on future models, the Chinese promo crap could be left on the boat. If the car is not up to scratch and requires a handful of crap random desk clutter to help sway the customer, there are bigger problems afoot. Good quality items that are USEFUL and STYLISH (ie. promotional to HSV by just being used in day to day living or leisure activities) should be included as a minimum or provide nothing at all. I guess the best way to determine their value is to ask the HSV execs if they personally would like to have these shitty items kicking around their house, office, car? I would doubt it very much. AJR-0109-12-2008, 01:04 AMThe appreciation pack was a bonus, I didn't care either way whether I received it or not as I was more interested in the build number certificate. It was a pleasant surprise when I did received it in the mail though. The great part about it is what it complemented, the Clubsport R8 LS3, which is simply a great car. We forget that we get so much more in these cars than the previous models it replaced for the same if not less money. I for one at the time of purchase was more focused in negotiating the very best deal including options, which I believe I did on the day and getting the car delivered on my terms, build date, no charge extras such as tint of my choice, full tank of petrol on delivery, etc. and once the formalities of negotiation was done I was satisfied, I then asked the dealer for a HSV/HRT jacket & cap and he obliged by opening the merchandise store and got me to choose whatever I want, so I did. You never know until you ask! My contribution to this thread. Cheers :) AJR-01 planetdavo09-12-2008, 06:54 PMPlanetdavo you are IMO deliberately missing the point. They really wouldn't sell if it wasn't for such strong loyalty by Aussies and the image that they are the bee's knee's in motoring perfection. Get over it and be happy you got something at all. It certainly feels more welcoming than the welcome gifts I got with the Z-Series, so I feel the marketing has improved. I'm really impressed with the level personalisation. The certificate of authenticity and personalised welcome letter are nice, and I was especially impressed with the personalised packaging of the gifts. For those who haven't seen the E-Series gift pack, the gift boxes come bound by a cardboard wrap (ribbon), which is personalised with your name and model of car you bought. A scan of the relevant section of the wrap: http://sales.grantgray.id.au/GTSPackaging.jpg Very cute... heavychevy19-01-2009, 09:50 PMPersonalised marketing that the end user appreciates :) XMPie uDirect Classic (Windows) $3,000 Print bureaux love it. Add a flat table data file from the dealer, linked with fonts and images and it does have that cute feel, almost as if was designed for an 'audience of one' At least they make an effort jai19-01-2009, 10:24 PMLooks like they have changed their style since November, with new Software haha. To be elite in HSV land you have to buy 3 HSVs :) Sounds like youre nearly there Grant! Still, no drive day is a big downer... FPV boys are lapping that up. v8race.com could easily do HSV a deal on over a few thousand rides a year im sure. It really doesn't cost that much to get out to the track anyway. HSVOC membership, CAMS license + helmet is all you need, or just do one of the high performance days with John Bowe or one of the other crews... I did a few track days etc in the Maloo and the cost of attendance pales in comparison to rotors, pads + tyres. ls3r820-01-2009, 07:05 AMI got mine yesterday too, did you manage to find the username/password for myhsv.com.au? It says to check the compendium but mine had nothing about that in there HSVDKB20-01-2009, 07:45 AMI got mine yesterday too, did you manage to find the username/password for myhsv.com.au? It says to check the compendium but mine had nothing about that in there I didnt get a username/password either. Is it worth going to the effort of getting one. Is the site useful from anyone who has access? Grant21-01-2009, 07:49 AMI got mine yesterday too, did you manage to find the username/password for myhsv.com.au? It says to check the compendium but mine had nothing about that in there I got the impression those details were supposed to be on the USB key, but it's completely blank. Haven't noticed anything in the compendium related to myhsv... jai21-01-2009, 08:39 AMYour username is your VIN number and password your full name. Its written in the booklet what to put in. Dont worry, the website is shithouse and offers no value. Can it. JK Carrots21-01-2009, 11:06 AMDoes it come down to the dealership as to how perky the gift is? It seems some people are getting a lot whilst others are getting the bare minimum? Just some food for thought....purchase a $300k vehicle from Mercedes and you received a lovely $11.99 bottle of bubbly and a dealership keyring....purchases a $20k secondhand vehicle from same dealer......same gift pack. Purchases a $450k truck from Kenworth or Mack.....receive a sleeper bunk full of gear! babycow22-01-2009, 09:31 PMCompared to last time (choice of golf bag, suit bag, case of wine)the latest appreciation pack is disappointing........ But I did not buy the car for the appreciation pack, but something more substantial would have been nicer :) dark23-01-2009, 02:51 AMCompared to last time (choice of golf bag, suit bag, case of wine)the latest appreciation pack is disappointing........ The memory stick I tried to go to myhsv what ever it is from the stick basically your Vin No. plus your full name to log on to find out further details it did not work. Also in the car, the alloy pedals no hsv on them, and the exhaust does not have the hsv logo embossed on there anymore. Some got HSV Tools, Sonax Product, Golf Clubs etc etc thats because hsv cat back is the same as ss or ssv planetdavo24-02-2009, 05:17 PMG'day Dave, Yep, but it's a pretty special key ring package isn't it...already highly sought after.
