HTML 5 <frameset> tag Definition and Usage The frameset element defines a frameset. It is used to organize multiple windows (frames). Each frame holds a separate document. In its simplest use, the frameset element states only how many columns or rows there will be in the frameset. The <frameset> tag is not supported in HTML 5 because it had a negative affect to the usabillity of a web page. Differences Between HTML 4.01 and HTML 5 The <frameset> tag is not supported in HTML 5 Tips and Notes Note: You cannot use the <body></body> tags together with the <frameset></frameset> tags! However, if you add a <noframes> tag containing some text for browsers that do not support frames, you will have to enclose the text in <body></body> tags! Example Source | Output | <a href="planets.htm" target="_blank">View this page for the result</a> The source code in "planets.htm": <html> <frameset cols = "25%, 25%,*"> <frame src ="venus.htm" /> <frame src ="sun.htm" /> <frame src ="mercur.htm" /> </frameset> </html> | View this page for the result | Attributes - 4: indicates if the attribute is defined in HTML 4.01

Jump to a specified section within a frame This example demonstrates two frames. One of the frames has a source to a specified section in a file. The specified section is made with <a name="C10"> in the "link.htm" file. Jump to a specified section with frame navigation This example demonstrates two frames. The navigation frame (content.htm) to the left contains a list of links with the second frame (link.htm) as a target. The second frame shows the linked document.
